So basically whenever someone dies, any kind of shittyness they committed in life is forgiven and we are supposed to all cry and reminisce on what a great person they were('nt)?

lol @ you

I doubt anyone here knew Anna Nicole Smith well enough to know what her actual life was like.

Regardless of someone's past life, there's always the hope that they turn the corner and become a more productive member of society. I think the tragedy is that she won't get the chance, and again, assuming we have no fortune tellers here, I'd think it would be anyone's guess at what kind of mother she MIGHT have been in the future.

Either way, regardless if your mother used drugs or not, I doubt there are many people in the world that would cheer at being an infant and losing a parent.

Hey, if she's gonna go that's probably the best time as far as the child is concerned. You can't miss what you never had and in all honesty the child is probably better off now anyway. And yes, I do have some firsthand knowledge of this...my wife was adopted as an infant.

Again, you are making the presumption that she would have caused pain to the child or been a poor parent. While she might have been a poor parent or drug addict in the past, that doesn't preclude her from one day being a good person and a good mother. I have some firsthand knowledge, too, but that doesn't mean I can predict the future.

Still, it is a loss whenever any human dies. We don't know what that person's future would have been. It could have been good for society or bad. It is no less wrong to assume good, than it is to assume good things about someone who WAS good that died. There are plenty of good people that became rotten in their older ages. Yet, if someone young and successful dies we don't assume they would turn out that way. Just as how we shouldn't assume someone with past problems is always going to be a problem, or be bad for the people around them. It like assuming once a criminal always a criminal and refusing to give people another chance. Sure, they might turn out to be even worse than they were, but they also have a chance to turn out good.

This isn't hopeless optimism, either. Many people change for the better in middle and old age.

I'd rather my mother be a whore and alive than dead and gone forever. My mother is alive, but I'd love her no matter what she was. Some of you have no regard for humanity, and I truly doubt your personal feelings are what you post here on AT. If so, then society has failed miserably.

It looks to me that she's been involved in a very destructive lifestyle, and by her appearances in front of a camera there have been more times of her being incoherent than not. I can't say I'm truly suprised she died so early in life, but hopefully she finds more peace in death than she did in life.

Well, I'm not playing god here and deciding whether she lives or dies either. She's dead...that's a fact. Whether she would have been a good Mom or not is a moot point. Historically speaking though, she's been a complete failure at raising children and a horrible Mother. I'm going to go with history on this one instead of speculating on what might have been.

This isn't hopeless optimism, either. Many people change for the better in middle and old age.

She's dead...that's about as hopeless as it gets I'm afraid. ;)

Too bad. I thought everything was coming back to normal for her.
I seriously wonder what the coroner has to say after the autopsy.

Sucks, 39 is still too early to go. So what happens to the money she was fighting for?

I'm kinda suspicious of her lawyer/husband... he seems kinda creepy to me, too.

But Anna has been on and off drugs for so long I'm really suprised at how suprised most people are about this.

According to the "legal experts" in the news, if she wins the case (which both parties are now dead btw) the money would go to her kext of kin, which is her 5 month old daughter.
