As much as I disagree with much of her retoric, it is disgraceful that a group of university students would cause such a disruption that she wasn't allowed to speak.

Protest cancels Coulter's Ottawa speech

By JUSTIN SADLER and DOUG HEMPSTEAD, QMI Agency

OTTAWA - It’s just the thing conservative author, commentator and self-described polemicist Ann Coulter is known for: Dividing her audiences.
Coulter was scheduled to speak before an audience gathered at the University of Ottawa’s Marion Hall Tuesday evening. Instead, security concerns raised by the university kept the Republican firebrand from speaking. Organizers pulled the plug on the speaking engagement because there were just too many people — too many of whom were just too rowdy.

The preachers of tolerance are the most intolerant. Freedom of speech as long as you agree with me and all.

I read this entire article and expected to see "threats of violence" per the thread title. Who threatened violence? Did I miss something?

I never claimed to be tolerant.

The quote sounds a whole lot LESS tolerant than some people being a little rowdy - so I guess your statement about "the preachers of tolerance are the most intolerant" is your typical load of BS, right?

Could be teabaggers. I highly doubt there are any intellectuals left in the conservative movement, and those would not be going to a Coulter speech.

When is the last time you heard of a liberal speaker having to cancel an appearance or being shouted off the stage??

Try reading the whole article.

The speech took place in Canada, doubt there are many teabaggers there. Instead there was an organized effort to keep her from talking and they succeeded.

We have the left up in arms over supposid use of the n-word against democrats.. but when progressives threaten violence against conservatives its pretty much a non-issue to them. The party of 'hate' seems to be the left to me.

You didn't miss a thing (unless I'm also missing the same things). Absolutely nothing was described in that story that could possibly be construed as a "threat of violence." The following excerpt captures the essence of the story:

Police were called by the university to assist after students of all political stripes descended upon the auditorium to hear the talk — some of them lining up for more than two hours in the rain — only for it to be canceled a half-hour after it was due to begin.

More than 2,000 people tried to get into the event, several times the capacity of the venue.

“We were called to ensure the crowd left in an orderly fashion,” said Ottawa police Sgt. Rob Gilchrist. No arrests were made and no injuries were reported.

This imaginary "threat of violence" was brought to you by the same folks who imagined death panels.

Are you just ignorant or unable to read?

I did. Did you?

A protest organizer, international studies student Mike Fancie, said he was pleased they were able to stop Coulter from speaking.

"What Ann Coulter is practicing is not free speech, it's hate speech," he said. "She's targeted the Jews, she's targeted the Muslims, she's targeted Canadians, homosexuals, women, almost everybody you could imagine."

The announcement of the cancelation was greeted with shouts of "Shame" and "We want Ann" from about 100 people inside the hall. Outside protesters mockingly chanted "Goodbye Ann Coulter."

Seems to explain who the hate was coming from just fine. THE LEFT.
