ok so since im relatively new here (but liking the posts more and more) i figured its about time to make my own post.

my roomate has a thing for gundam, but also watches a few other anime series (noir, inuyasha and some other ones) hes not obsessive or anything. He doesnt talk about it 24/7 or wear cat ears and a tail around all the time. Ive sat down and watched a few episodes, tryed the games, and even watched a "good" anime flick (good by a real movie's comparison) ghost in the shell (1 and 2). yet i still think its gotta be one of the most retarded things ever invented. i cant stand the japanese, or the animation.

so for those out there that DO like anime. what do u see in it (that either im missing or just doesnt appeal to me).
 
you'll find that most people here despise it.

i used to hate it but after trying a couple i got hooked. must be the asian blood in me 😀
 
it just seems that (some) people make it out to be so much more then it is. not that there arent alot of people who place way to much credit to the simpsons or something but there arent that many simpsons fanatics and there are ALOT of anime fanatics.
 
Its just another one of those "To each their own" things.

I used to be a rabid anime fan, until I started my EE degree.
 
I can't stand country music, but some people love it. Don't know why or how people like it, but they do so to each his own.

you just answered yourself. with a prejudice and mindset like that it is not surprising you dont like anything that has to do with japanese culture. i thought the best part of american culture is acknowledging and respecting others' ideals or hobbies and whatnot; it goes both ways, as i despise most american tv shows, yet i dont find it worthwhile venturing into the minds of those who like that kinda stuff. if you happened to have a strong dislike for chinese food, the chances are you wouldnt get a convincing answer from asking what they see in chinese food.

maybe you should try some more, i loathe some of well regarded anime series/movies (anything by miyazaki, gundam seed, naruto and the list goes on)

terrible choice of topic for one of your early posts tho, there are multi-page long threads on this topic and you will find some good answers there. next time please do us all a favor and benefit from this wonderful feature called 'search
 
i like some of the older gundam stuff. can't stand most of the newer gundam series.
i should finish watching zeta again this weekend. lol.
 
I like scifi and I like animation, I guess its just natural that I dig anime.


Where do you guys go when you're looking for information on anime shows/movies? for some reason animenfo.com is down right now
 
I hate it. My little sister got way into it because it was such a fad. She falls for everything that's new and hip and cool. I really can't stand it. Pokemon is about as anime as I get.
 
I liked it when I was 8-9 years old. As I got older I started to dislike it more. My brother is 21 and he loves it though.

Pokemon is crappy 5 fps anime show with repetitive storylines and horrible animation.😉
*edit* however i liked to watch it when i was 12-14 years old. :clock:
