I always just thought it was because they were so fascinated with different colored hair and eyes since their hair and eye color are so homogenous. How else do you explain the blue, purple, and green hair colors in different animes as well?

It really is as simple as what I said in my first post:

I don't believe that. At all.

If the japanese actually believed this, then why are they still so culturally up tight? Do Japanese marry into white families? H£|| NO, 99% of the people in Japan are Japanese. They hold their culture close, and still to this day have a hard time (most families) excepting inter-racial breeding.

Everyone knows inter-racial breeding is better for the human race. You mix the best of both world. Except the Japanese, or rather all of Asia, don't really think this way. They're all about staying 100% Japanese, or 100% Chinese, or whatever.

Don't you ever wonder about this? Like how all of Japan are probably related, and how they probably all hook up with their 10'th cousin or something? Maybe its just me.

Very true. If they just drew black hair and black eyes for everyone it would be kind of boring for the artists.

toriyama is great, yes i have read some of his other stuff. just because dragonball has super saiyajins doesn't mean all japanese think like toriyama.

there's plenty of foreigner bashing/mockery in other series to make up for this. 🙂

considering asian countries are not immigrant countries like the us, racial homogenity isn't really a choice made by them imo...

there's many different forms of anime. It shouldn't be considered just one genre.

And those different colors are just there for the color presentation. In fact, the vast majority of blonde's in anime are described as either foreigners that can speak japanese (there's actually quite a bit of 'em in japan), dyed their hair, half caucasion/half japanese, etc etc...


wtf is aqua teen hunger force? that's the stupidest, most idiotic cartoon.
 
Like American sitcoms, most anime series suck. But there are some really good ones out there. Cowboy Bebop, PlanetES, Great Teacher Onizuka.

If you judge anime based on the ten minutes you spent watching crap like Sailor Moon, Dragonball Z, or Yu-Gi-Oh, then yes, it must all seem stupid. BitTorrent and watch an episode of Outlaw Star or something else decent before you start bitching about stuff you're totally ignorant of.

LoL. Yea there are some good ones out there but you didn't name any of them. IMO

The Cowboy Bebop movie was OK, but the series sucked.

Good Anime = Ninja Scroll, Wicked City, Ghost in the Shell, Vampire Hunter D, Fist of the Northstar, and Princess Monanoke.

Ninja Scroll was possibly the worst one I've ever seen. I agree, however, on Princess Monanoke, Vampire Hunter D (esp. the second movie), and Ghost in the Shell.

If talking movies, I'd add Roujin Z, Metropolis, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, and Armitage III.

You don't like any series?

The series was great. much better than the movie. Everybody's taste varies. I, for example thought Ninja Scroll was pretty bad. Just Gratuitous violence and nudity.

The whole idea of saying " anime sucks" is silly. Its like me coming out and saying "movies suck".

There are so many different forms of anime that you really can't homogenize it.

I just don't understand why some ATOTers are so vehement about expressing their dislike of anime or say rap.

Its not for you. We get it.
