Anime Overdose (mostly free event this Sat & Sun ... Santa Clara, CA) -schedule update

First of all, I apologize for this shameless promotion, although it technically IS a "hot deal" because it's mostly free

This message is for the residents of the Silicon Valley, CA. More specifically the area around the city of Santa Clara.

This weekend (Saturday and Sunday), a small anime club from Santa Clara University will be holding an anime event, Anime Overdose. There is no admission price except for one event (a Yugioh tournament $3.00).

A short overview of events:
-Feature talks and panels by Gilles Poitras (http://www.koyagi.com/). "Gilles Poitras [is] known by many as the foremost expert on the study of Anime in the USA" - so if you want to have a meaningful discussion about anime, here's your chance to meet him.
-All day anime marathon. 9am to 9pm
-Japanese karaoke contest
-Yugioh tournament

There will be a raffle (Saturday only), so you can win some fun stuff (don't ask me what it is, i have no idea).

As for the Sunday schedule, we're just gonna wing that. Anime marathon, Yugioh tournament, and something (panel?) may or may not be done by a friend of a friend. The series are TBD... may be something good, or then again, may be something lame (don't worry, nothing dubbed

looks good but You're Under Arrest is not one of my favorite anime. I just wonder what would be the evening "Surprise" Film ? any idea ? I might go

In case you didn't know, Argento Soma is considered "what NGE should've been" by some (many?). You should've seen the club members when they saw it (first 2-3 episodes were actually BOOed, but now they can't get enough of it). You should see it ^___^

You're welcome to invite as many friends as you want
The more people come, the more likely that this event will become bigger next year.
Since this is an official event, we're not allowed to show any fansubs, only DVDs
I cannot make that guarantee for the TBDs, though...

Uhh... not sure. I'd guess no. Remember, this is a small event compared to something like FAnime-con
Tempura Anime club is only a year old...
But like I said... if people show up this time, it'll be even better next year ^_^
