(not looking for dark themes. violence/murder = no.)

EDIT:
Currently Watching:

Spice and Wolf 2
Bakemonogatari
Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi
Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
Princess Lover!

i saw that spice and wolf is coming on for a second season. saw the first 2 episodes, and it looks really good thus far.

any suggestions?

Farewell Earth, the ship we leave in is
Space Battleship Yamato

Through space we travel toward far-off Iscandar
Fate upon our shoulders, we now begin our journey
"Surely we will return here"
We respond, smiling to the waving crowd

Leaving the galaxy, heading toward Iscandar
We face a great distance
Space Battleship Yamato

Farewell Earth, and the people we love
Space Battleship Yamato

We are charged with a mission to save the Earth
Fighting men, burning romance
Someone must undertake this
We are expected to do so

Leaving the galaxy, heading toward Iscandar
We face a great distance
Space Battleship Yamato

Eden of the East is/was good, dunno if it's exactly what your looking for though.

There is also Fullmetal Alchemst Brotherhood... I like it more than the original anime.

You might enjoy bakemonogatari, which is on episode 3. The animation style is quite unique, and the dialogue/characters are pretty interesting. It's got quite a bit of comedy, but not the slapstick kind of stuff. The first two eps dealt with some violent themes, but it's definitely not a show about fighting.

One Piece, though it isn't new. IMO, it's the best manga/anime out there.

Bakemonogatari has a cool style atm

do not watch The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya S2. watch the first season first and you might be able to tolerate what's going on in the second season

i dont like one piece.

my favorite anime remains code geass, and my favorite manga remains history's strongest disciple kenichi. (with mahou sensei negima in second place.)

I need to look at the Kenichi manga. I have a hard time watching the anime because of how grating Kenichi's voice is.

How dare you even ask me a question like that! /animeelitist

...

It was subbed. The voice is very squeaky/whiny at points.

Go to about 2 minutes in and watch... well, you could just watch that part since it's the first 8 minutes of Episode 1. I checked the other parts and they're out of sync so I wouldn't recommend watching it.

yeah you're right, the voice would get annoying to me too.

manga = much better.
