DjBaMBaM....

It's been a while since I had an IRC client installed on my pc, but if I have no luck finding some of this stuff I may just give IRC a whirl.

DaveSimmons...

I checked out netflix as per your suggestion. It looks like they have a pretty good selection. I've got it bookmarked. Thank You 😀

Now for another question (if anyone is still reading at this point):

I downloaded what I think is the first episode of Berserk and while it does play it's really blocky and ugly. Does this have to do with the quality of the rip, or is there anything I can do to my pc to make it look better? My specs are as follows:

p3 600e
512mb ram
geforce 2mx
win2k
windows media player 7 with the divx alpha 3.11 patch
divx player 2.0 alpha

This isn't isolated to just this video clip. I've downloaded other video clips and alot of them look like this. Is there anything I can do with my setup to make it look better or are they lousy rips?

Check out the Street Fighter II anime movie. It was done, to my surprise, very well. The fighting scenes were really cool and the characters were drawn well. Not cartoony (even though I don't mind that).

Grave of the Fireflies...one of the best animes (story wise) out there PERIOD!

A lot of what everyone has suggested are good series. Trigun and Cowboy Bebop are the popular ones out now. I'd also reccomend those. Some other animes you might want to check out are:

The Hakkenden (series) - it's slow but adult themed and not cartoony. Really good samurai series though, action & fighting sequences are cool.
Neon Genesis (series) - wierd but cool robot stuff.
Ninja Scroll (movie) - adult themed ronin & ninja stuff. This movie was made by the guy who did Vampire D: Bloodlust.

I could go on and on. Good luck 🙂

<< Ugh avoid A wind Named Amnesia...snooze fest! SNOOZE FEST! >>

=sigh= yeah, it's well-written and intelligent, but not as much stuff blows up real good as in Akira (which I like BTW). The Batman & Robin and Bond movie crowd will find it snoozy, but people who enjoy more grown-up fare such as the Thomas Crown Affair remake or Gattaca will enjoy it.

oh yeah, pet shop of horrors is cool. it's like twillight zone/outer limits meets anime. 🙂

Yeah grave of the fireflies if you enjoy crying yourself to sleep and feeling like sh!t for a week. Powerful anime...I don't think I can watch it more than once. I don't think any movie or anime or whatever has ever given me as much grief as Grave of the Fireflies.

Anime rocks, heh, just spent last weekend at a convention...that kicked @$$......my fav series is Evangelion.....i've seen quite a bit, and there is still so much left.....PM me and i'll see what i've got that i can send you, if you want!

Ok, heres my list. I dont get to watch any new Animes now that I'm busy with school work, but here goes.

Cowboy Bebop - Like many said, its one of the best series out there! None of that kiddy jokes, but it has some funny scenes in between the serious plot.

Rurouni Kenshin OVA - They just released the 2nd OVA but its not that good. Its just to tie up the ending. Watch the first OVA, its friggan amazing! (the TV series get a lot better when the story picks up after ~ ep 20).

Inuyasha - Its pretty good. Just watch it. Lots of battles and humer int this one. 🙂 (you cant get this on DVD, but you could download it. 🙂)

Berserk - Like some one mentioned, it has good story line and lots of battles. Finding this on the net should not be that hard (*cough* IRC *cough*).

Princess Mononoke, Grave of the fire flies and Ghost in the shell are all very good movies... dont miss those.

I recommend you watch all these in subs, cause some dubs suck some times. I hear they did a good jub with Cowboy bebop. But I stil believe subs have much better translations then the dubs do. I seen a sh!t loads more, but dont think you would like them (plus cant remember half the names).

Wow, there's so many titles out there that I don't know where to begin. Even if I just rent all this stuff I'll still drive myself into the poor house. That's ok though, it will be worth it 😀

Pet shop of horrors is like outer limits huh? Sweet! I love outer limits!

damnit im leaving the dorms and heading home to 56k tommorrow why the suggestions now!

here are mine

Evangelion
FLCL - i need to watch again and try to understand some of it

I have Gattaca on DVD, it's actually one of my favorite films of all time. Can I also reccomend Perfect Blue to the originator and everyone else...it's like a hitchcock thriller and will have ur heart racing...not the greatest artwork but perfect blend of story telling, acting, and mood.

Oh man, Grave of the Fireflies... what a movie!!!

you'll feel like you want to shoot yourself after seeing it. it's so damn heart-rending. DEFINITELY worth seeing though.

The Kirby anime!!! it's so damn cool!!! It's not subbed yet, but it's licensed and it's coming to FOX this fall, so I don't think it will be subbed by any big group.

I've only seen one episode, but people rave about Ayashi No Ceres. I can't tell you much about the story, but i hear it's a good series.

Watch Slayers!!! I bought the entire first season on DVD. This is like a hilarious Lodoss War. It's D&D set to anime with lots of slapstick comedy thrown in for good measure.

Avoid dubbed anime at all costs! Its a real turn off when I see ninja's flying around with texas accents.

<< Avoid dubbed anime at all costs! Its a real turn off when I see ninja's flying around with texas accents. >>

See, I'd rather actually have it dubbed than to read for 2 hours. I've never seen anything as hideous as a ninja with a country accent, but I imagine if I did then I'd probably want things subbed too.

With all the suggestions you guys have been giving me I actually had to make a list that way I wouldn't forget any. Now the only problem I have is that I don't know where to start! 😕😀
