Do moving desktop wallpapers exist? Just wondering. I was just htinking that it'd be cool to have a rolling ocean as your desktop wallpaper.

I used to have my Active Desktop pointed to a page @ cognitivedistortion.com. Kinda cool, but it got old.

I was just wondering if using a feature like this would sacrifice performance. I have an AthlonXP 1700+ and I noticed a bit of a drop off in Office Apps when I installed Style XP. I'm considering going back to a plain old desktop just to get that performance back.

I had drempels for a while... it was cool.. however it took up about 20% of my processor usage... If you run alto alot of heavy CPU usage programs, I wouldn't recommend it.

Yes, you're going to sacrifice some level of performance for eyecandy. I don't even have active desktop enabled on my computer.

In Mac OS X (and maybe earlier versions) you could set your desktop as the green color from green screens in movies and have a DVD play on that in the background. HUGE resource hog, but neat none the less. I think it would get annoying.

Get Drempels! It's awesome! I followed the link and installed it last night, it's incredible. You can put any picture in the directory and it'll be animated on your desktop.
