Cruel and unusual how? My guess is if you could ask an animal what it would prefer, someone having sex with it or someone killing and eating it, most would choose the former.

Spungo, the owner(s) of those factories are only looking at the bottom line. The animals, like the Earth, are just a means to make money. They probably don't even look at the animals as having any value. To them, it's just another worthless thing - like the trees, oceans, etc. The only thing in life is to exploit something for profit.

Yet, I bet these people go to church and praise "God."

Some conservatives see themselves as the protectors of society. Not that I agree with that, but someone has to do it.

At one time being gay was not socially accepted.

It is not really fair to compare a mental illness to something we have to do to live. We have to eat to live. Being gay is a life choice.
