in general, i must admit that i dislike MS sql server. at work, i deal with both oracle and sql server DB's everyday. i sigh every time i have to open sql server and wait the 5 minutes it takes the management studio just to open.

oracle on the other hand, i like much better.

Security Patches come out all the time. I'm not sure that this was that big of a deal. It's not that difficult to take care of, unless you are blogging for principal.

What gets on my nerves is that it wasn't taken care of.

Not on servers I won't... well it depends which server but in general I never have patches deployed to servers automatically... too many apps to break.

FYI the exchange patch cuts off all email traffic for a few seconds as it installs.
