Yes, but as many liberals like to point out every time a moralizing family-values Republican gets caught in an "airport stall-gate" moment, the hypocrisy is worse than the crime.

So...don't get mad when the same thing happens to your heroes for acting like hypocrites and torpedoing their supposedly noble causes.

That's craziness!!

Stop kidding around.

Ever heard of Warren Buffet? And conservatives also like to rail against George Soros.

fix your meter my friend... I was taking a shot at all the extreme left morons who frequently equate wealth to the far right or Republicanism, while there are probably just as many "evil rich" Democrats.

This from the rag that argued obama's approval was "in the basement" when it sat at 65%. As it's in the 50s now shouldn't we be impeaching? TBNT.

The article is full of opinions. By definition it cant be full of lies, but when folks hear something they dont like, they often find it easier to call it lies.

I didnt agree with everything in it, but I agree with the idea that hypocrisy is so damn common we sometimes dont even recognize it or call it out. And its a little too common with folks who like to get media attention on a regular basis.

This article has a lot of pablum, framing the issue perversely by taking the people who are trying to make things better and attacking them, since they hurt the greedy interests.

It's the same basic nonsense as the 1970's Lewis Powell memo in which he noted that they right was constantly losing in the public debate because the issues were the 'good guy' liberals making the world a better place against the big bad greedy corporate interests. His solution, of course, was how to lie better basically - to create a phony appearance of the right being the 'good guy populists', and his memo was directly influential in the creation of the current right-wing proapganda think tanks and the media system like Fox.

There are fools who will fall for that nonsense, and let the greedy trick them into attacking the people who are on the public's side, with phony populist appeals.

Much the way people like Ronald Reagan would take a grandfatherly tone as he represented the biggest corporations to do evil, and things like murderous Central American policies, bloodying the American flag in ruthless policies that killed thousands of innocent people and oppressed millions.
Wow!

I totally did not see any of that in the article. You must have special powers or something.

It's called the power of denying the truth. You see, sometimes the truth hurts. And when it hurts it usually hurts libs in the rear, thus they are incapable of speaking about the truth because the orafice that they speak with is hurting.

What is this "orafice" you speak of? Do you mean "orifice" as in the one your head is neck deep in like a tick feeding?

True, you can't dismiss the Republican arguments for "the sanctity of marriage" just because they're having adulterous gay sex themselves.

I dismiss them because they are trying to enforce religious teachings from specific sects of Christianity on those that don't share the same beliefs, and trying to make secular law follow their religion. Burqas for everyone!

The "hypocrisy" of Gore has been way overplayed. He tries to neutralize his increased Carbon Footprint through the Purchase of Carbon Offsets. We could argue whether the Carbon Offsets work or not, but assuming they do, that would certainly not make him hypocritical by putting his Money where his Mouth is.

NOTE

Once or twice a month (per the Contard Talking Point Handbook) the GOP finds it necessary to label Dems as:

1) Angry;
2) Crazy;
3) Hateful;
4) Lying;
5) Insensitive; or
6) Socialists.

This used to primarily happen in the months leading up to an election, and they would tend to focus on one specific item listed above for a few weeks before moving on to the next item.

But it seems since the election last Fall their panties have become entangled and severely wedged in their cracks. All the Noise Machine can regurgitate as a preface to any issue is an endless stream of ...

"" Those *&$!*&! angry, crazy, hateful, lying, insensitive, socialist Democrats want to (insert issue here). ""

I'm happy to see that in addition to being 'angry' Democrats are now 'rich' and 'moralists'.

Anyone who buys into any of Gore's fantastic "carbon offset" bullshit is a fucking clown.

Clowns make me laugh.

Do you buy into it? If so, then the punchline is you.

EDIT: Besides, if a man opens up a company and then buys his own product to supposedly demonstrate the quality or effectiveness of said product -- ie. to boost sales -- does that really make him less of a hypocrite or douchebag?

The article wasn't written by Moon thought.

It was written by Victor Davis Hanson who is a well known historian and columnist who has a PH.D from Stanford and was a professor at CSU Fresno for 20+ years.

Oh... and BTW this article is syndicated by Tribune Media Services and can be found in dozens of newspapers nation wide.

/Craig's strawman.

I wonder, does Gore stand to gain anything from the sale of carbon credits?

Are you that dense? It isnt a Republican or Democrat issue. Is there a meter somewhere that tracks hypocrisy? Is there a tally somewhere with all aggegious hypocritical things that have happened? To make blind sweeping statements such as Republicans are worse..or Democrats are worse...is childish and shows a sincere stupidity and shows lack of personal responsibility.

How about this. Next time someone on this board calls their most hated party a hypocrite, we then investigate THEIR life and their own? Hypocrites calling someone else a hypocrite is the very definition of hypocrites.

Negative. That is not the very definition of hypocrisy.

It isn't necessarily "putting his money where his mouth is" if he stands to gain from the purchase and promotion of carbon offsets.

You can argue that he is promoting something that will help the environment but I highly doubt that Gore's motives are anything other than Gore. Not that there I think there is anything wrong with that, just pointing out what is likely his true goal.

I'll answer! Nothing. People act as though Gore invented the forestry services industry. We all know it was actually the Internet, not planting trees!

Dont get me wrong. Just because someone IS a hypocrite, doesnt mean they are wrong. Its just people get all twisted because someone with flaws shouts faux outrage at someone with flaws. But its like, half the posts on P&N, so whatever.

Does Snake Oil work?

Trees do produce oxygen, yes. And, it would seem that they produce a nice-sized profit for your boy Gore as well.
