Sometimes his shtick gets a bit old but he seems like a good guy.

Yeah... with some YouTubers, it's hard to get over their gimmick, but there's usually a good point. I've always found it hard to watch Angry Joe because of all the yelling. I did watch this video prior to seeing this thread, but I skipped around a bit as I've never been a fan of his skits or aforementioned yelling. I like to watch Nostalgia Critic's reviews, but he has similar awkward skits that I don't normally care for.

I haven't played it yet, but people in RPGWatch seem to love it. It's next in my queue after I finish Lords of Xulima.

Man, how did I miss Lords of Xulima. Seems exactly the type of game I would like.

His review of Rome II: TW was epic, still one of his best (it was simply funny). And I'm still waiting for his Shadow of Mordor review... (I guess his clash with Olgoth should be considered his "review" of the game for now, he liked it I guess is the gist of it). I like his reviews most of the time and I often agree with him (not always mind you).

I do avoid his various non-review commentary videos, however (the ones in which all he does and wants to do is merely complain to a point where I wonder if it's for the show or because he's genuinely that naive, especially concerning DLCs and micro transactions in general).

I lost interest in Nostalgia Critic after Doug Walker brought the character out of retirement. The skits are very low budget and not that well done. Partially due to the weak actors he hired. He's locked himself into box though. He's too well known as the Critic, it's very difficult for him to branch out. That's why the new show he tried bombed big time. Half in the Bag has replaced him as my favourite film review show. It has better production values, and Mike and Jay have better chemistry that Doug has with his team.

I kinda get the feeling that Channel Awesome is well past its heyday. And they still haven't bought poor Cinema Snob an HD camcorder.

That dev of slaughtering grounds has the crappiest website possible with a gmail account. What is the nationality of the devs and publishing house? It just has that Russian feel about it after my experiences with World of Tanks and Warthunder.

Angry Joe can be a bit over the top, but I like the fact that is actually reviewing his games from a neutral standpoint. He yells, and has some silly skits, but that's part of his image he does to be unique. The points he makes and observations are generally pretty spot-on. He also doesn't take himself too seriously, in that he welcomes feedback and opinions. I like that...

This was pretty well done and I am glad I didn't play these games....

More interested in the 10 most disappointing titles, honestly. :)

I find him very annoying, so I just skimmed through the video but I loved all of the stuff with the British guy and The Slaughtering Grounds. That was amazing.

Yeah Jim Sterling is fun too, he's also abrasive but it's more of a sardonic abrasive than Joe's angry abrasive.

I think his videos would be better without the skits. Overall I like his tastes in games (unlike Total Biscuit who has weird tastes) but the skits are over the top. He is Texan though....

Honestly, I just watch it for the discussion on movies. I'd be fine if it was just him talking about movies with clips playing the entire time. While I am just there for the movie stuff, the skits are fine as long as they don't cause the video to cut away from the discussion for too long.

Jim Sterling is an interesting fellow. He used to do a show called The Jimquisition over on The Escapist, but he recently went solo through Patreon. He's also been on the Co-Optional Podcast with Totalbiscuit, which was a good episode. Albeit, my favorite of those is still probably the one with James Portnow from Extra Credits. (They've also started doing a fun series called Extra History. They're covering the Sengoku era of Japan right now.)

James Portnow and Daniel Floyd (the narrator) from Extra Credits are awesome! I got to meet them at a convention a couple years back.

Well James and Dan no. 1 are a bit different than the review show like angry job. Their job is to discuss a topic, not review.

Interesting. I may have to check some of that out. Thanks.
