Angry Dodge Hellcat owner sets 7 rules of ownership

With Hellcat fever still in full swing — as both the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat are now hitting dealers in full 707-hp form — the first injuries to metal and pride have begun to pile up. Seeing the carnage among his fellow owners, one Hellcat customer has taken it upon himself to issue the seven commandments of Hellcat ownership so that those Peter Parkers can finally understand: With great power comes great responsibility.

Underneath the occasionally foul language in the video below comes some basic common sense, such as when to use the black key (never) and how to use the dash's launch control and shift points to ensure that some Prius owner doesn't come away with a story about declawing a Hellcat at a traffic light.

"I shouldn’t have to make this video. I shouldn’t have to tell you these things," the Hellcat owner's William Wallace says. "I’m just sick and tired of seeing the Hellcat losing."

Haha... "don't race anything faster than you"

Got it!

Also F you... if someone lets me onto an aircraft runway to "race" any kind of anything I'm doing it. I don't care if I lose.

He strikes me as defensive that he paid $70k for a 700hp car that get's beaten by other cars (AWD and/or Electric).

what is FCA?

TIL - if you own a Hellcat you should only ever race cars that you can easily tromp [because Hellcat owners don't know how to drive], otherwise you might look like an idiot on the internet [and reveal to everyone that Hellcat owners are idiots]. Also, make sure you always have the red key, so everyone knows you're not an idiot [even though you are an idiot].

That's what I took away from his video anyway.

Same takeaway for me.

Thing is, if you're going to have a valet key, 500hp is still a lot of power to limit these cars to. Having the black key limit to 200hp makes more sense.

Valet is not a key but a mode selected in the car with a PIN number.

Valet Mode is offered on both Challenger SRT and Challenger SRT with a Hellcat engine. When Valet Mode is activated, the following vehicle configurations are enabled:

Engine is remapped to significantly reduce horsepower and torque; limited to 4,000 rpm
Transmission locks out access to first gear and upshifts earlier than normal
Transmission will treat the manual shifter position the same as the drive position
Traction, steering and suspension are set to their “Street” settings
Steering-wheel paddle shifters are disabled
Drive Mode functions are disabled
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is enabled to Full-on
Launch Control is disabled

The driver can activate and deactivate Valet Mode with a four-digit PIN code they create.

Yea, AWD is a serious advantage and a Hellcat will be back at the starting line roasting rubber while the AWD vehicle is long gone. He's totally wrong about jet aircraft, V1 speed (rotation, lift-off) is NOT anywhere close to 400 MPH LOL, try 175-180 for a fighter-type airplane. Dodge could have gone the AWD route but that would have added considerably to the cost, from what I'm hearing there is a waiting list for the Hellcat and there has been some dealer (and individual) price-gouging) going on.
