Angry cop/lack of empathy theory. Too many PTSD vets in the force from permawars?

With the Permawar state America is in, I wonder if the reason there are so many angry cops is because you have a lot of Ex War vets used to the action, PTSD etc.. who view the populace as potential combatants.

They are even becoming more tactical with all kinds of war gadgets etc..

This is what is probably happening. Permawar rotation of burned out combat vets, low pay and poor training, lots of work hours.

When you see some of these videos, you can see the lack of empathy as people are dying ie: "Fuck your breath, etc.." etc..

The next 20 years will be interesting as we continue on the path to Permawar and we keep filling our local law enforcement with such individuals as they rotate out.

Most of the guys with assloads of sketchy shootings are civilians. Dudes who got D's in high school and never eligible for military service.

I've wondered about this too. There is a large segment of ex sargent at arms rated vets out there that could easily slide into a civ police job. Must be some stats somewhere.

They are trained that they are in a war with the populace. Its no wonder. You take average iq humans who have a natural affinity towards order and tell them they are at war and give them a gun. What could go wrong? We see it day in and day out.

Of course. A decent chunk of the police force are ex-soldiers and Vets, and they've spent the last 14+ years abroad freedomizing people who didn't want to be freedomized.

People feel calmer and less stressed in stressful situations if they are more aerobically fit so cops should maintain a high level of aerobic fitness.

Please show me one recent example of a prior-military police officer doing something bad. There are a lot of cops doing a lot of stupid things lately in regards to excessive force, but you're maligning military service with absolutely no proof. Just your "feeling."

Also LOL @ low pay. The only cops I know that make less than $100k a year are feds because they can't work off duty gigs.

Didn't we go over this before? Average pay in the US for a cop is $47k. The people you are talking about must be in the top 1% of police officers. Only 10% make over $70k.

I don't think higher pay will help the situation either, but lets be realistic here.

What is an 'ex sargent at arms'?

He is including all the "side jobs" they take on guarding things as a cop. Possibly some "dirty" things I'm sure.

Dorner comes to mind, although the cops fired him before he went totally nuts.

BB got everything. Cheap collage, decent jobs, good wages with growth, pensions, healthcare reform came just in time for their donut years (retired but not eligible for medicare), Exporting the jobs of the youth to create big profits, housing bubble, and on and on. The worst generation was the BB generation.

Yup, those Coast Guard guys are known as the most insane badasses ever in the fight with the Taliban. Those guys went through hardcore house-to-house fighting and routinely dodged IEDs on a daily basis. For sure it's all the former Coast Guard hotheads that are bringing the war home to our police forces.

He has no data to back up his statement obviously.

Then you don't know many. Very first link in google; http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Police_Officer/Salary

47k is average. Good try though.

Here ya go, now look at it rises with education, years of service, and type of service.

http://www.hpdcareer.com/salary-calculator.html

Most police ni the Houston area average making $20k - $30k in overtime and additional off duty assignments such as working sports games, concerts, and other similar places that require security.
