Angry cop/lack of empathy theory. Too many PTSD vets in the force from permawars?

This has been discussed ad nauseam before. Nebor is right, while the average salary may only be 47k, they still make 30k plus in overtime schemes. The end result is an income that can be more than double their base salary. It is a racket.

I actually think the distribution of crazy psychopaths is pretty similar amongst a citizen who would chose to do such a job, and an ex mil who probably just doesn't have any better opportunities. Even if you took all the ex mil out of the PD, you would just replace them with people who are sleazy enough to want to be a police officer as their life goal in this day and age. That person is not right in the head.

You're an abject failure at even basic reasoning and common sense.

I wonder if the reason there are so many angry cops is because you have a lot of Ex War vets used to the action, PTSD etc.. who view the populace as potential combatants.

No i think the problem is this.

Requirements to become a police officer.

Candidates should be at least 18 years of age (some agencies may have a higher age requirement).
Must be a US citizen.
A high school diploma or GED.
Pass the reading and writing assessment test.
Must not be convicted of any felony or misdemeanor charges.
Pass all background checks.
Have a valid California Driver's License.
Pass all medical and psychological exams.

You have college dropouts who want some authority becoming police officers, what could possibly go wrong? Imagine if you needed a degree to become a police officer? Police brutality would drop to zero.

It's human nature to be a dominate, aggressive, force. Only Government scales it down, or empowers it, in the case of Police Officers. The way to tame police officers, is to tame Government.

It's an atrocity, as Government claims to have instituted "Campaign Finance Reform."

If what you are saying is true, it should have been SO EASY for you to pick apart his reasoning and show the entire world how truly wrong he is. But you instead chose the type of response most commonly taken by those who are true experts at reasoning and commandos of common sense: personal attack.

Here ya go, now look at it rises with education, years of service, and type of service.

http://www.hpdcareer.com/salary-calculator.html

Most police ni the Houston area average making $20k - $30k in overtime and additional off duty assignments such as working sports games, concerts, and other similar places that require security.

That doesn't change the fact that the average is 47k. And you think everyone works overtime? Think everyone makes 30k off of it? No. The fact is that he make an ignorant blanket statement claiming that everyone makes 100k that he knows. Sure cops make different in what state/city they are in. But to assume that every cop nation wide makes 100k is just idiotic. But you guys can't seem to grasp that, so I am done talking about it.

Why don't you back that up with facts. You don't think that cops who have degrees have done wrong, committed brutality? Ugh... ignorance here is strong.

All the police officers I have dealings with make as much as $100k yearly when they include their overtime and off duty assignments. Granted they have 14 to 18 years of police service. Only an officer in a small police department and less than 4 years of service would make the $47k and that would be without overtime and off duty assignments.

He has no data to back up his statement obviously.

Then you don't know many. Very first link in google; http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Police_Officer/Salary

47k is average. Good try though.

You're right, I only know about 40 guys well. Not an expansive sample size. Like I said, the only ones making less than 6 figures in my estimation are the newbie feds. Everyone else cashes in by working at Walmart & movie theaters off duty for $35-55\hr.
