Angry Condo Owner Letter (from me)

So you get upset when people don't follow the rules, but scream and yell when the rules are actually enforced and cars are towed?

Grow up, and learn to tolerate other people. No one will EVER do things exactly the way you want them done.

The OP is just looking for reasons to bitch. Sure he has some legitimate concerns, but most of thoes are easily remedied or will be when phase construction is complete.
Bitching about a college flag, whining about a brass knocker and complaining about white rocks, flowers and shrubs is just ridiculous.

I'm not looking for reasons, they're all over. One of the residents who got towed this weekend called the cops and the developer and flipped out.

A lot of these things ARE very minor. But when you combine it all, this place is turning into an eyesore FAST!

1) The ground erodes under the foundation and I'm stuck paying to fix it when it cracks?
2-4) It just needs to be addressed before everyone changes the landscape and screws everything up. Give me the $160/mo back ...
5-7) Thanks
8) It used to have a meter, it was removed, it was the construction power while they were doing buildings 2 & 3. It hasn't been used in about 6 months. It's like a stick with 8 outlets on it.

I'd love to relax, but this is stressful. I paid a crapload of $$$$, I may as well have sunk LESS into a house. My exterior wouldn't look like this. I moved here so everyone's place would look the same, and nice. It's just not ending up that way and it's making me flip out like a ninja.
1. It won't. Nor would you be responsible.
2-4. I don't see how a brass knocker affects the common green areas or you directly. Now the "white rocks, shrubs and flowers" I guess it all depends on what you mean by that. Are they digging up the common green areas and planting these shrubs?
8. This will be removed when phase construction is complete. This is a completely standard occurance. If not, they should remove it soon.

No, it's turning into a HOMESTEAD. You know, where people LIVE. Not some sterile living environment.
You should have bought a house.

LOL ... at the meeting they said no towing, then they turn around and tow. It was a slap in the face to people who have been parking where they shouldn't, while there is a HUGE CRANE IN THE PARKING SPOTS.

I just want consistency. Enforce the rules or take them out of the huge ass book I read from cover to cover.

Or give me my $160 / month back and let me take care of my own stuff ... (yes I realize they also go toward exterior insurance, road repair and future siding and roofing expenses)

1) If the condo association pays to fix it, then I'm paying!!!
2-4) It makes the unit look different. One guy does brass, then one does silver, then I'm putting up one with squirrel nuts. All the grass is technically common area, and yeah, they removed plants that the builder put in to make way for their other stuff.
8) Yeah, I hadn't really paid attention until another resident mentioned it to me, but it's like a door ding, I see it all the time now.

You're right ... I probably should have moved into a house, lol ... guess I'll be here for at least another 1y 4 mo's ...

There were "tips" in this thread? ;)

I was almost inspired to send a letter to my association too. .. almost. I'll have a  and think about it.

1. TRUST ME, THE FOUNDATION WONT CRUMBLE, OK? :D
2-4. Digging up the common greens should be stopped, though planter boxes and stuff like that shouldn't be a problem. The brass knocker, comon man, give me a effing break. Are you THAT psychotic about literal interpretation of the rules? Put one up, no one is going to say anything because NO ONE CARES (except you. ;) )
8. I've seen plenty of temporary utilities used by developers remain installed and inactive until that phase, or possibly (not usually though) all phases of development have been completed.

I haven't sent the letter yet (going to do that tonight) --- but I called code enforcement today because of the grass situation. Maybe I'll wait for the weekend and sent a printed version certified ... yeah, I think I'll do that.

They asked if I wanted to remain anonymous and I said no :) ...

I know, I'm gonna set myself up as a condo commando ... but hell, pay for it, at least mow the damn lawn!

Achtung Blieb, Achtung!!!

Ant Colonization is apparently not for him.

I would suggest living on what little farms there are left out on the boonies somewhere where the nearest neighbor is at least a mile or more away.

I completely agree. Now while I wouldn't make a big deal about a brass knocker alone, if there's a bunch of violations that are ignored I would bring up each and every one to make my point. The HOA fees for my condo division are $160 also and believe me, I'm going to get my money's worth if there are any issues.

Thanks for reminding me why I don't want to live in a condo. Heaven forbid some one plant tulips instead of daffodils or something, the whole neighborhood might sink into a black hole now.

No one is supposed to plant anything in the ground. It's all handled by the ground-keeping service, which of course hasn't mowed.

So you pay money just to bitch about stuff.

How sad for you.

you really should move...

get a house away from everyone else. it seems that little thinkgs that others do really gets under your skin.

failing that.... put in a HUGE door knocker, a 10x10ft flag and loud crazy plants. when they complain about you, tell them you will remove it when everyone else does. As for the foundational problems... is there a town housing board you can call?

While you have some legitimate complaints, you lost me when you started whining about exterior uniformity...

the only legitimate claim is the foundation and weeds waist high...

everything else is just nitpicking.

Grrr, there's nothing worth posting in this thread because you will still be an asshat... I can't believe you're actually bitching about a brass door knocker.

HOW THE FVCK DOES THAT AFFECT YOU?

If you don't want to have your eyes accosted by such neighborhoodly activities as planting bushes, get the fvck out of a neighborhood. Buy a house and live alone, PLEASE. Fvcking fascist.

They're all legitimate. It just starts with a crapload of little things, then big things start going down.

Part of the ideals behind a condo is exterior uniformity.
