:| My iBook's logic board failed. :|

I'm not repairing this, not if Apple wants to repair the sh!t for free for *some* people (read: ibooks with certain serial numbers) and not for everyone.

So whats a good ~$1500 or less 12.1" *X86* laptop?

Wait, is Apple not repairing this for some reason? Is it still under warranty?

I got it from someone off a Mac board a year or so ago, I don't believe there was a warranty other than the year warranty that has already passed.

You'd be out of luck if it were a Dell with a 1-year warranty too...so it's not really Apple's fault on the support side, just on the QC side. :(

General Hardware has had many "best laptop brand" threads and most of us agree IBM makes the best (but most expensive) non-gaming laptops. Great build quality, keyboards, displays, and service.

I'd say Toshiba and Dell are next, but you might just want to search and read the existing threads.

If you want gaminig capability get a laptop with a Radeon 9600 Pro, preferably with 128 MB memory. That will likely be in a 7-8 LB desktop replacement not a subnotebook though.

Naw, I'll be looking for a subnotebook though. I got my gaming rig for games, I want something I can use in my bed :)

Because its a known issue with iBooks. The logic boards fail. Across the board. Not just some, *MOST*. Theres a bunch of people suing because of it too. So why shouldn't I be pissed if they repair some of the iBooks and not all of them?

Those are to lust over :) Most are real expensive because they are imported from Japan.
