Many years of disappointing moves and seasons. The last time they won the pennant was in 1989 when Kirk Gibson hit the homer on a bad leg. I can't remember anything after that.

And if you're talking about the Dodgers, are you kidding? The team is filled with ex-Cubs, and players who the Cubs were trying hard to sign. Do the math - following the Cubs' lead is not the way to the World Series.

And what's more absurd is how Juan Pierre is considered the greatest player in the game. Well, he doesn't get *that* much praise, but there is enough to make me scream at the tv until my throat is sore.

What good is his speed when the rules prohibit any player from stealing first?

I don't want to say this but I think the Cubs are definitely cursed-- by the curse of Sosa. The media made such a huge deal about him leaving early. I cried the day he left.
 
I just wish the Cards would spend some money! We have a brand new stadium and we're the World Series Champs but Walt Jockety won't spend big bucks to address our needs (a starting pitcher and a bat).

Well I'm sure the Cards would be in the playoff hunt, at least--so, they could pick up a SP before the playoff starts. As for another bat, I'm expecting Ryan Howard-like performance from Duncan next year. The man is a giant.
