Android Wear

Snagged a Moto 360 cheap recently.

Recommended apps?

Also, Cyanogenmod is ported to it? What are any benefits?

I use my Moto 360 stock and just let my apps sync over. The only Wear specific apps I load are Moto Body, Moto Connect, and Android Wear.

And tbh, I had no idea there was a CM ROM for the 360. I'll have to check it out.

Favourite apps when I'm on Android Wear are Swarm (for location-based check-ins) and Transit (mass transit/ridesharing). And of course, your messaging app of choice -- responding to Hangouts or Facebook Messenger with your wrist is kinda nice when your hands are full.

I missed that sale myself and ended up getting mine from dailysale two weeks ago when they dropped the price to below $100 plus I had a 10% off coupon so even with sales tax it was the cheapest I could find for a new watch. I then ordered a shapeway watch body to make it look like a gen 2 moto 360 with the lugs to take the stress off the back so it wouldn't crack plus I ordered some new 22mm bands to go with it. The only way you can tell it isn't a gen 2 is by the button placement and since it cost a fraction of what a gen 2 does I'm happy with it.

I keep watching for sales on the gen 2 and if things work out I'll snag one of those when the time is right.

Watch just arrived.

I got it because I tend to miss phone calls on my phone btw.

It's still charging up and then updating (needs 80%).

It's pretty nice overall. Kinda big for my wrist, but that was expected. I've previously used a pebble watch.

This one I feel I need to take care of more. I have the feeling also that it's basically going to be more a nightstand alarm clock for me, plus a reminder to return phone calls and texts.

The only annoying thing is that the leather band sucks. It is still, feels cheap, and it squeaks.

Favorite app so far is stock ticker for Android Wear, it keeps 4 stock prices on my watch face, time and date.

I'm in heaven, no looking at my phone for updates at work.

So I got the watch updated all the way to android 6! Wow, motorola really put some love into this watch. Meanwhile, my Moto E is still chugging along on android 5.

Took the watch out for a run. Held up pretty well. Pretty responsive overall. My main concern is battery life. It goes through like 10% of the battery per hour

I have an Urbane 1st gen, and get 2 days. It's a little big and cheap looking, but I don't care as long as it does what I want. Picked it up for $150.

Well, I already have a Pebble. It does the job, but it isn't really anything special and it feels like a kids toy.

This moto360 watch is a wonder. Like, the way the light refracts around the chamfered glass edges is pretty cool. Style and design matter, and the watch is like something Steve Jobs would have come up with.

I've said I'd buy a 2nd cheap OG Moto 360 at some point before doing $250-$300 on something new. Maybe they'll tempt me with something but that's by far the better value.

I'm still hoping that BB will drop the price on the gen 2 moto 360 so I can get one as a companion to my gen 1 black which I do love. The shapeway gen 2 body fits it perfectly and the barton 22mm band complements it just right. I had issues with it, just got it yesterday, and getting it to take a charge but once I was able to reset it after updating to the OS to 6 it started acting normally. I will say that you should not be tempted to install the retro led watch face as it's a battery vampire and I had to uninstall it. Today my battery life is very good and it isn't draining anything like it did yesterday.

huh? Yeah, what are recommended watch faces? I'm running the 70's one right now.

It's pretty cool when you're driving and you have your phone hooked up on BT playing music and you can see the song on your wrist while holding the steering wheel.

I run poweramp remote to control my music player, and watchmaker handles all my watch faces. I have had lots of them but each time ive needed to reset my phone, I lose a few due to an ugly file system watchmaker uses. ^^

The rest is stock, but thats cause it already does everything I want it too.

I tend to avoid other watch face apps because most suck at battery life preservation. Watchmaker is very optimised and watch face makers can put their faces on it without worry about optimising it.

Zero, nope, infact I'm currently fighting with my new marshmallow installation because updates on the phone (and thus, the watch) don't happen enough. emails can go several hours before they show up, and sometimes the watch still gets delayed notifications. It seems like android wear needs better priority from 6.0.

My moto 360 v1 continues to baffle me with its charging weirdness. If I wear it until the battery is down to like 20% and put it in the cradle it will continue to drain until it gets down to like 2% and only then will it begin recharging. If the battery has lots of % left in it, like 80%, and I set it in the cradle it will charge normally. This is just too weird and Motorola should've already addressed things like this.

I couldn't take it anymore and sent my gen 1 360 back for a full refund. Then I went down to my local Best Buy and got them to price match amazon on a gen 2 46mm silver/cognac watch and added a $5 rewards certificate and am done with it. This watch behaves right, charges when I put it in the cradle and updated without incident. The gen 2 behaves so much better plus is responsive all the time unlike that gen 1 that used to stutter way too much when trying to do simple things.
