New question, Go SMS vs. Chomp SMS?

**Problem potentially solved**

Background Info: I'm using a Verizon Nexus and have GO SMS installed as my text app. My gf is using an iPhone 4S and is also on VZW (we actually share an account).

Problem: For some reason some of her texts just never make it to me. This only started happening when I changed from an iPhone (the one she is using now) to the Nexus. Before I start trying to debug this at the application level I just thought I would ask to see if any of you guys have an idea of what could be happening. Could this be related to the app? An iOS > Android issue? Etc.?

This could be happening with texts coming from other people and I may not know about it. I only know about it from her because I get the 'why didn't you answer my text' text. :)

do they not show up in the stock messaging app as well?

ask her to turn on delivery reports for SMS on her phone. maybe the problem is in the sending side...

Not showing up in stock messaging app either. I'm waiting for her to get home to see if I can figure out what the problem is. The interesting thing is she has one specific text that no matter how many times she tries to send it the thing just doesn't make it to me. She's tried forwarding it, copy/pasting the text into a new text, etc. Nothing works. But texts asking me if it made this time or not do transmit successfully. Hopefully it's something pretty straight forward like a setting in her phone.

I dont know why the TXTing apps blow. GO SMS is way too bloated with their GO messenger shit.

I like the stock app but I wish there was a way to change the colors around :(

Ideas anyone?

You could give Chomp a try. I heard that one is decent and thought about giving it a shot next.

Unrelated to the app. It is either one of your service providers or she isn't sending them properly?

I think I figured it out, or at least I hope I did. It has something to do with some emoticon app she was using called Emoji. The text she was trying to send had a smiley face in it. I realized if I take that out the text makes it successfully. I'm not sure if that's a coincidence or not but either way I told her to stop using those when texting me for awhile to see if the problem occurs again. I'm going to do some research on that app today to see if there are known issues there.

Anyway, to change directions, Chomp vs. Go anyone?

Just a side topic but Emoji emoticons have been added to iOS's list of keyboards. That way you don't have to go use 3rd party apps to use them.

I voted stock. FYI the 4.2(.1) stock Messaging app supports iPhone-style (and -compatible) group messaging.

I prefer What's App. It uses data not sms (not everyone has unlimited texts), functions more like chat (you see when people are typing, when they were last on, etc.), and it's on virtually every popular platform out there so you can use it to text friends here and around the world.

Yes, but that's a whole different platform. my friends and I do a lot of communication via Whatsapp, but at the end of the day SMS is a basic form of communication such as phone call. It can be used with those without smartphones or who turn off data or whatever.

for SMS, I say GoSMS still. It's not as nice as it was a year back but the layout is cleaned up more now.

we get group messaging finally?

No love for Handsent? I love it. Very customizable and the popup screen feature is nice as well.

I used to use Handcent and swapped to Go some time back. Go drove me away with their overdoing everything now. I don't want my txt's to go through "go chat" and it auto logs me in all the freaking time and I end up getting messages from c123834@gochat... because it seems to "forget" who people are. I finally gave up and reinstalled Handcent this afternoon.
