Android phones with better headphone amps

Are there any android phones that are known to have better amplifier sections for the headphone jack?

I think I read a review recently that said the headphone amp section was beefier than normal but I forget where. Might have been at anandtech.

Anyone?

I think original SGS 2's had Wolfson preamps, though that would be for fidelity and not extra power. They may have been paired with more powerful amps too.

Not sure about amps since usually it is the DAC that gets discussed. But SGS2 has a Yamaha DAC. SGS3 International has a Wolfson DAC. WM1181 IIRC. SGS3 US uses Qualcomm. And Galaxy Note 2 uses the same Wolfson DAC aas international SGS3, although people are saying it sounds better than SGS3 since it has more room to allow for more shielding/less crosstalk.

That said, with both the SGS3 and GN2, you can connect a USB OTG cable and then connect to a DAC/Amp of your liking and it will feed digital audio out through the USB.

Note 2 probably is best for headphone use ATM.

I think it was the DNA with the boosted amp section... or was it the X+? Anyway, one of those HTC models. Problem is that the DAC isn't as good.

There are Beats modifications to some Roms if you are willing to flash it.

Isn't the Droid DNA supposed to have improved headphone amps? I seem to recall that when reading about it at launch.

Hmmm... I thought it was illegal in the US to amplify beyond a certain amount with these devices, or am I mistaken?

I think it was an THC phone that I saw reviewed as having a more powerful amp than normal.
