I installed an emulator app.
It's looking for the ROM.
*.rom is in the download folder, but the app isn't finding it...

But, I see the app is only scanning some folders called
/mnt/sdcard/Android/data
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data

Where are these folders?
When I hook the phone to my PC, I don't see these folders in Explorer.

In Android File Manager, my top level dir is /storage/emulated/0

If you'd have root you'd see those folders, is there a way to change the path where its looking for roms to say /storage/emulated/0/downloads ?

In the app, I don't see any "settings" page where I can specify the search path.
Or just specify the ROM file itself.

Mount points for different phones are slightly different, but generally, mount points from root it should are variations of these (or all of them):

/mnt/sdcard/Downloads/
/storage/emulated/0/Downloads/
/storage/emulated/sdcard0/Downloads/
/sdcard/Downloads

If you want help with the emulator, I suggest you post what emulator it is you're trying to run, and maybe someone else might have a tip it.

Get a better emulator. They will look where you tell them. Unzip the roms, and preferably make sure they're valid.

Provide information. Emulator, ROM, what are the actual paths the app is looking in, are you using a file explorer at all?

Basically, this isn't rocket science. I've done some SNES emulation with no issues. If it's not the app itself, it's something you did or didn't do.

Yea, it's not rocket science, but you don't seem to understand my question.

Like I said, I can't see the folders where the emulator is looking.
The emulator does not allow me to modify the search path.
Getting a new emulator is not an option.

So, I need to access the folder tree where the emulator is looking.
Is this possible?

It's possible. (Since you've given no further information, that's about all the help I can give you.)

Ok, what other information do you need?

I have an LG G2 running KitKat.

But, I see the app is only scanning some folders called
/mnt/sdcard/Android/data
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data

Where are these folders?

Like, basic information such as, which emulator could help. The information of the path it's scanning is jumbled.

I just gave it a try. The program definitely scans _everything_ on the emulated/internal storage. I only uploaded the rom that I pulled from my TI-86 through AirDroid (which dropped it into /mnt/sdcard/airdroid/upload/), and it found it.

Now my next question. Are you absolutely sure you have the rom file? Because the ticalc link it listed is simply a way to pull the rom file from your calculator, and that was the most tricky part of the entire process.

Yes:

*.rom is in the download folder, but the app isn't finding it...
In Android File Manager, my top level dir is /storage/emulated/0

Dunno, then, if you're sure you extracted it correctly, then it should find the rom. If all fails, maybe try finding the actual rom on Google?

Finally solved this.
I was able to access /storage/emulated/0/Android/data
via the file manager and drop in *.rom
