I'm not DOING anything wrong. The phone is basically in its stock configuration. This is a fucking phone, NOT a PC and that's what you tweakers don't understand.
For most folk, they aren't rooting the device and hacking the shit out of it. They expect a phone that performs essential functions flawlessly (calls, texts, email, browsing, etc.). Android can't even do this without random and inexplicable force closes. That's my issue, and if I need to do extra setup beyond what comes stock then that is unacceptable in and of itself IMHO.
An open platform is a great thing, but it doesn't really make much sense for phones. In a phone environment, you want everything locked down tightly because the tolerance for errors are much lower than they are on a PC. People expect the phone to function flawlessly, and this is a huge reason why BB devices are popular today by business users. It does what they need to do flawlessly.
Android simply doesn't. It's not stable. It's not polished. It's not where it needs to be in its present form. I'll give Google the benefit of the doubt that they will get there, but they aren't there yet. Doesn't matter how much you fanboys whine, they just aren't there yet.
