Android & IE

My wife needs to access a site that is not supported by her native Android (Sprint Evo) browser or Dolphin. Both seem to be based off of Safari or at least that is the error we are getting. It is an HTTPS site.
Is there a work around or different browser she can use?

Try Firefox or Opera mobile. AFAIK they are both based of their desktop counterparts and don't use webkit like the android browser, dolphin, and safari.

Did Firefox work? Firefox for Android is currently rocking RC status. Should be available in the market.

It's not AKO/DKO online, or for that matter, any DoD website, is it?

Because those sites suck and I experience the exact same frustration on my desktop. IE tends to be the best bet, or at least a stock Firefox client (versus ones with addons) - they claim best with firefox, in my experience, it's the worst on firefox. Chrome was iffy, Opera no-go.
Never even had the idea of ever touching a DoD website on my phone. Way too much of a nightmare.

Haven't tried Firefox.

Have you tried changing the user agent for any of those browsers?

You can fool the website into thinking you're running IE, but it's possible that it may have issues rendering regardless if it uses some non-standard code that only renders well with actual IE.

Edit: Sad that this is still a problem. Call the people who run the site and tell them to upgrade their code because it's costing them business.

Didn't even know there is a Mozilla version for Android. I mostly use Opera as the main browser and with some nice featured from phone applications.

I didn't either but it didn't work on this site.
I'll try the user agent trick.

Also all three of those use WebKit just like the stock browser

I know Dolphin Browser HD lets you change the user agent to anything you want though. Probably some others do too.

worst case you could remote desktop to a computer and use IE through that, obviously not ideal though.
