Is your Droid running at stock clocks? I run mine at 1Ghz, with many users running at 1.2 and 1.3Ghz without a hitch.

Heh, my PDA could do PSX games back in 2005 or 2006. Native apps would deliver way better visuals, or at least should.

Still, not bad, but I can't see much other than rpgs being playable with the controls.

I just picked up most of the *oid emulators yesterday, and have the game gripper on the way. Bought ROM Buddy as well for $2 to get all the games I can (at least before it gets shut down inevitably). I never played many PS games...now I think I will.

Crap, $5.99 and no Light version available FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Wowowow. People bitch about not having the games that the iphone has, but with this and the sega/NES/gameboy/etc. emulators, who needs crappy iphone games ported over to the android?

edit: ff7 on android:

No need to be crap on the iPhone just because there is positive Android news. There are a few iPhone games that are very good and designed specifically for touch screen and accelerometer use. Not saying they can't be ported over to Android because the basic tech used in both the iPhone and the top of the line Android phones are quite similar but just because it's on the iPhone doesn't mean it's crap.

And the site, ZodTTD, has been hosting quite a few iPhone emulators (need jailbroken phones) for quite a while. Work on a PSX emu for the iPhone actually began in late '07. From what I know there is an NES, SNES, Gameboy, MAME, Genesis, and PSX emulator. At best you can say emu development on Android is on par with emu development on the iPhone.

All the emus I've tried sucked with on-screen controls. I need to get me a wii mote to try out with.

EDIT: This would be sick if they could get a PS3 controller to connect...

The Droid X has more RAM...but no major differences other wise--new one is on a smaller process but same GPU, can overclock the first one, etc.

Supposedly the Hummingbird and it's GPU are faster though.

Seems you speak Jobs natively, not English, I'll give you a few tips-

crappy iphone games

In English 'iphone' in that statement is the adjective applying to the noun 'games'. He stated nothing bad about the iPhone itself. In English, iPhone is not a deity of which everything is divine, it is OK to criticize something that happens to run on the iPhone without it being an insult. I understand for those that are native Jobs speakers this can be confusing, the RDF does that some times, but with careful work you too can understand English as a second language :)

How on earth is this even legal?

If you own the game you can run it on an emulator and be within the current legal boundaries. As a general example, I still have my copy of FF7 for the PS1(scratched) and the PSN version, so under current law I could run FF7 legally on my phone using an emulator.

Until ACTA is passed, the devs are breaking no laws. They are releasing software that allows you to run PS1 games, with the understanding that you own those games. They are not providing any illegal content or ROMs with the emulator.

very much so. Remember the psp is half way between ps1 and ps2, and the specs on even the original droid completely blow away the psp. ps 1 is relativity weak. I'd say phones are closer to ps2 in terms of power. And with emulation you are typically limited to emulating hardware one generation ago.

Who gives a shit about gaming on fucking phones WHEN YOU HAVE NO BUTTONS.

WTF PEOPLE EAT SOME BRAINS YOU NEED SOME. :hmm:

Same reason you run Linux on a wristwatch: because you can. If you can't understand that, you're on the wrong forums.

Wow. Are you serious? The news had zero to do with the iPhone but the OP found the time to criticize the games available on the iPhone. Even though he is 100% wrong in his assessment of iPhone games. There are some genuinely good games that make use of the touchscreen and accelerometer. Again, the news had zero to do with the iPhone but the OP found time to criticize iPhone games. Even though the PSX emu has already been available on the iPhone and been in development since 2007. If that isn't crapping on the iPhone I don't know what is.

So I can say every single Android app is complete crap and they are not worth using at all. The apps just happen to run on Android devices and they just happen to suck bad. By your reasoning I said nothing bad about Android itself. I only criticized the apps which happen to run on Android. But hey, it's perfectly all right cause I am not criticizing Android the OS or any Android based devices.

Bottom line you're trying to put a good light on the OP's bias but that only shows your own bias. No one except those who are already anti-Apple is buying it. Putting a smiley face on the end doesn't mean you are any less biased.

You're insulting me by saying I speak "Jobs" with the implication that I spout what Steve Jobs says. I have a mind of my own and can think for myself. There is a lot of fanboy crap that goes on in these forums and its really not conducive to discussions. Posts like the OP's does not help and posts like yours definitely adds to the negative atmosphere.

Of course this is par for the course for you. This is not the first time you've been insulting in your replies to myself or others when you've disagreed. Nor is it the first time I've commented on your borderline personal insults.

You know what's funny...?

I remember up until recently EVERY SINGLE DAMN SMART PHONE THREAD turning into an iPhone-does-it-better debate... D:
