Android Device for me?

Last time I bought an Android device was back in 2012 and I wasn't that impressed. Now, I am looking to dabble in Android again before I inevitably go back for the iPhone next year. What device is good for me? I don't want bloat, I don't want lag, I need a decent battery life (I can get about a day and half out of my iPhone 6 Plus) and I want support for most Android apps.

Any suggestions? Maybe Nexus 6P or Moto X Pure? I am on an iPhone 6 Plus right now so size is not a problem.

Sounds like a Nexus 6P is what you're aiming for. Latest OS, timely updates, and (hopefully) solid battery life. The Moto X Pure is a fine device, but the battery life and somewhat delayed OS updates (not as bad as other OEMs, but it's there) may rub you the wrong way.

I just picked up an ASUS Zenfone 2 and like it quite a bit (I got the 64 GB one with 4 GB RAM and faster processor). I guess the main complaint about it that I've read is bloat, but I don't think it's that bad. So there's a few apps you can disable/uninstall, big frickin deal. The UI is very fast and responsive. And if you really hate it that bad, put Cyanogenmod on it. But I think the bloat "issue" is way overhyped on this phone; I'd say it's definitely worth checking out.

not bad. I'm rooting for that phone, too. While there's a lot of bloatware as they say, I'm not that bothered as I really like tinkering my device
