Stupid question, but once I purchase an app, is it specifically for use on the device I chose to install it on? Or is the app transferable to any android device I own or will eventually own? Basically, if I have more than 1 android device, or plan to change my phone soon, will I have to have a copy for each device? TIA.

Transferable to any Android you own.

It is attached to your Gmail account, not your Android device.

How do I purchase an app if it is listed as "incompatible for all my devices"? I want Soundhound, but it won't let me buy it.

Funny, I noticed this too. And as I am planning to get a new phone sometime in the next two months, I would like to take advantage of the 0.10 price. Normally, I probably wouldn't complain about this, because it would sound ridiculous - i.e. "Whaddya mean it won't let me needlessly throw money at something that won't work on my phone?" 😛

Yeah - I am getting an android phone here in a couple of weeks and would like to take advantage of this as well...

Swiftkey X is a must-have. The best predictive keyboard available on any platform.

The best part is that it doesn't autocomplete its predictions, it lists them for you to choose if you want to. And the 'suggestions' are listed based on a scan of all of your old emails, texts, fb posts, etc. Bad for privacy, good for your thumbs.

Well... you can't use it apparently so why bother?

Anyway, you could ask a friend or user you very much trust to log into their device using your username once just to get a supported device linked to your account. Then they go back to their own name and you should be able to download it. That still doesn't make it available on the devices that aren't supported, but it at least means you won't have to buy it again when you DO get a supported device.

Swiftkey X for a dime is awesome.

[edit]
Except for the pesky 24mb of ram it consumes!

You just answered your own question. Also, it's not "officially" supported on my device (Ainol Novo 7 Advanced) but then again, quite a few apps it can run are not supported but it runs them anyways. I can appreciate Google trying to keep me from spending money on an app I might not be able to immediately use, but come on...it's 10 cents.

I thought if you paid for the phone version, you get access to the tablet version for free?
Or was that only during the beta?

Might have been during the beta. They're even priced different now (X: $3.99, X tablet: $4.99).

I grabbed swiftkey x when it was the amazon free app of the day hoping I could use it on my tablet. No such luck. never did install it on my phone since I like swype.
