So I'm trying to configure the SD card for combined storage. First time formatting, it hangs up at 20% for like 20 min, then gives me some error. I restart the phone, which almost looks like it is bricked for a while. Anyways, then it sorta looks like it works. migrated data over to the sd card, and now my podcasts app says it has an SD card's worth of free space available --however, it has not merged with the space on the phone. SD card is 128gb, phone is 32gb, and it says it has 114gb free.

When I connect to computer, it shows the sd card available for transfer, but not the phone storage.

Anyways, this merge thing just doesn't seem to be working right or to be worth the trouble.

Any tips?

AFAIK, that's how it's suppose to work.

If you have 32GB of internal storage and you format your 128GB SD card as "Adopted Storage", you don't get 160GB of pooled storage, you get two pools of storage. One is 32GB for apps that can't be migrated and the other is 128GB for any apps that you migrate.

So it is basically for convenience in not having to choose sd card?

For data (music/videos/pics) yes just convenience. I don't think you could install APPS on the SD card in previous versions, that is the difference.

Yeah, the biggest difference is that app don't know that they've been migrated. They behave exactly the same but instead of 32GB of internal storage, they now have access to 128GB of internal storage.

I thought this was suppose to save everything to the SD but it doesn't and you can stil manually migrate apps to the SD card since as google told me not all apps are updated to take advantage of it.
