Android 2.1 leak for Droid Eris

The lag is why I totally brushed it aside when picking up a VZ android phone. I was willing to take a hit on screen res, but i couldn't deal with the lag.
This should make it really appealing. I like the Eris' form factor.

ive just d/l the 2.1 file from the link but thought i better ask a few questions before i take the leap.
. is it just browse to file on computer via usb an install
. any warranty issues to be concerned with

1. Copy the file onto your phones SD card. Install on the phone by holding the power and volume down buttons when turning on.

2. Technically, yes. Best case though, is that when the official update comes out, we can load that and no one will ever know the difference. If your phone dies while this is on it, and the official 2.1 hasn't come out yet, they might give you problems.

I still have a warranty, so I don't really want to root the phone unless I have to.

If it's anything like the iphone, then if the warranty is ever needed you can reload the pure firmware and the warranty is still valid.

Yup, the Motorola roms can be reverted. Currently there is no way on the Eris.
