Just installed Android 10 on my Pixel 3XL and really liking it. A known issue is that during the install process is that it may be stuck on the boot page for up to several hours but mine was only stuck for about ten minutes. Really like the new layout appearance, it makes everything little bit more distinguishable including notifications. Pulling down the notifications screen now lists the time at when your battery will last to. Very cool

TMO is already testing for the S10 and Note 10. I may see it this year.

been using it since Beta 5. Very nice. Once you get used to the gesture system it's a fantastic way to get around the phone.

I've been singing gesture based navigation's praises since the Meego OS days like 10 yrs ago lol (had a Nokia N9, even a Blackberry Playbook)...but no one was listening haha....now it's amazing all of a sudden when Google and Apple do it...sigh... :D

Even on my Android phones I use Action launcher and All in One Gestures for navigation....WAY better than button navigation IMO.

Installed it yesterday on my 3xl and had no problems, took only a couple minutes to reboot. I actually don't like the time remaining when you pull down the notification shade, in the last version it showed the battery % when you pulled it down which I liked a lot more. I do like the new icons more, plus the full dark theme is nice to have finally.

I installed it on my P3. Smooth install and the gestures took me a few days to get used to, my brain kept going for the back button lol. Dark mode is so far so good and my battery life didnt change.

The only gripes so far is the back gesture in chrome and gestures when cropping a photo.
In Chrome you cant hold it to show the previous page list. Some webpages (for example reddit in certain circumstances) gets you stuck on the page and you cant go back.
Sometimes when cropping photos, grabbing the corner initiates the back gesture.

I cannot tell you how much I detest gesture navigation on phones. They are unintuitive, abstract and generally unnecessary.
That's just old person talk saying get off my lawn. Once you use them they are fast and useful.

They are a lot slower than the old way of doing it! Even the pseudo gestures that Samsung uses are quicker!

Old version.
To get home hit the home button.
Gesture version.
Swipe up quickly from from the bottom centre of the screen.

I'm not seeing how that quicker or easier and that's the simplest gesture.

I mean we can talk about the multitasking gestures but I really dont think that that's going to make your point.

You're right about the old person thing though! :D

Crap, I was gonna say I thought I had it on my Galaxy S10 but nope, it's version 9. Hopefully Verizon puts out an update for Android 10, cause I'd be interested in trying out gestures.

Are you using the current swipe up from the bottom ones rather than the soft keys?

I was losing faith in my Pixel 3XL. This thing has been the buggiest and weirdest Google phone I've had. I've had a lot of the Google phones too because I prefer stock experience, fast updates and smoothness of it all.

The 3XL on Android 9 couldn't manage memory well, it stuttered at times, bugged out on some apps now and then and even closed some of my apps mid usage.

Android 10 has been like I'm using a new phone. It's very smooth, memory management has improved and I'm no longer getting apps closing on their own. The recent apps actually holds all of them there now. Gestures have made the device slick with transitions.

Looking forward to the more powerful pixel 4 even though I want to smack google for their design choices.

It's gonna eventually do that for every app that has location settings. It's been still alerting me for apps I haven't used and I turn off location anyway since at work the signal is bad and it drains battery faster.

You can disable that so it shows battery % in the setting on the pull down.

I get that on 9. I got a notification about WhatsApp accessing the camera yesterday, are the new alerts different?

It's this one I think.

How do you do that? Can't seem to find it myself...only the option to turn on battery % which just turns it on all the time until you pull down the shade.

can i revert to android 9? 10 has killed my battery charge alarm twice, notifications become undismissable, other notifications arrive late (that thing you were watching on ebay? sorry, no notification for you), apps lock up, the wrong preview gets shown when switching between apps, just a whole host of bugs and performance issues that i've never experienced before with android updates.

You shouldn't be having those issues with your Pixel 2. Maybe try doing a factory reset first. Down grading to Android 9 will end up wiping your device anyway. Unfortunately no easy way to revert back to Android 9 now that the beta is over. There are some guides to downloading the Android 9 image and flashing it back with ADB.

I've owned almost all the pixels and none beep or vibrate when I touch them? I have the 4xl and all that does that's different now is slightly wake the screen when I'm reaching for it.

the default setting is haptic feedback turned on. the phone vibrates and makes clicky noises as you type. it's annoying AF.
