I bet he unretires and signs with someone else next year.

He’s a multimillionaire with a hot wife and loves traveling. I won’t be surprised if he is done permanently. He is no PFM, whose entire life revolved around every aspect of the game.

The Colts fucked him over early in his career by keeping that clown Grigson around as GM.

Luck never seemed like the type to want the spot light or to pimp himself out making commercials. Once you are physically beat down and have enough money, get out.

Much respect for him doing this. His head wasn't in the game and his love of the game simply isn't there. And he couldn't look his teammates in the eyes and play without putting 100% into it. I say good for him.

The fans booing him as he left last night is completely disgraceful. Bunch of classless fucks. Hope the Colts go 0-16 this year.

We're not all that way.

But yeah, playing with lacerated organs, a shoulder that required some voodoo to fix up and a leg/ankle the colts were definitely being coy about deserves some respect. He was a good individual.

They’re not blaming the right person - Irsay is the drunken retard who sat by and watched Luck get beaten to death year after year. Ironically, they finally put together a great line last year but the damage is done. Fuck Irsay.

He cannot do that, he was recently signed to a contract to the Colts, they would have first rights on him should he decide to un-retire. Personally, I think he chose wisely, he's suffered some significant injuries in 7 seasons including partially torn abdomen, a lacerated kidney that left him peeing blood, at least 1 concussion, Torn cartilage in 2 ribs, a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, and finally this mysterious calf/ankle injury that would not respond to treatment. Indy didn't do him any favors with crap-tastic O-line's in front of him and not much in the run game either. Best wishes for him, what good is $$ if you end your playing days hobbled as fuck.

Exactly, the only thing that was keeping Indy competitive was Luck's tenacity until last year, (as you said), the O-line finally got to be a respectable unit. Luck would either try and run it or stay in the pocket to deliver a pass and take a pummeling in the process, I'd like some of those fans to take just ONE of those hits he absorbed and see how you still feel about playing.

Ironically, according to scouts next year is one of the most stacked qb draft classes. Watch the Colts tank their way into another fucking franchise QB lol.

(I'm just jelly as a Redskins fan. Hopefully Haskins pans out in the long run, he looks like he has potential)

I remember when he was at Stanford playing against my school USC. He got absolutely drilled this one time, and he just smiled in the guys face and said, "good hit".

I said to myself this guy is an animal

That means nothing. If he wants to come back and he doesn't want to play for the Colts then they'll sell or trade his rights. If he stays retired they get nothing, if he wants to play for someone else he's worth something. Even a 4th round draft pick has more value to them than Luck staying retired.

I think he's going to at least *try* to come back. Given some rest he'll feel better and be bored and start thinking he can still play. So he'll be in somebody's training camp for the 2020 season. Whether he makes it through to the regular season is an entirely different question. He might show up, take a few hits and decide he was right the first time. But I'll go with history and guess that he's going to at least try to play again somewhere down the road.

I thought he said it was the injuries that had spoiled the game for him. I can't blame him if that is the case. I've been saying for five years now that Brady is an idiot for not retiring from FB and taking his health and money and enjoying more of his home life with his wife and kids. Why risk becoming more unhealthy if you have other options? I doubt Luck and the Colts were going to go to the SB anytime soon so the whole retreat was a wise one, IMO.

Brady has escaped major injury, (with the exception of the lost year due to the torn ACL) although he does play through shoulder issues. Most years the Pats have a decent O-line, but not always, in 2014-2015 he was among the leaders in QB sacks taken, one playoff game vs Denver in particular he was simply hammered again and again. Bottom line for him is the game is still fun at this point, but I don't expect him to make it to age 45 like he said he wants to.

The Colts probably have too much talent to pick that high unless they trade multiple picks. Even without Luck, this could still be a playoff team.

I agree with you about Brady and even thought Manning should’ve retired earlier than he did. I did see an interesting stat - Andrew Luck only played 16 games after Manning retired. So basically, the Colts gained a season by drafting Luck. To be fair though, had they kept Manning instead, he would’ve been killed behind the line Luck played behind until last year.

Much respect to Andrew Luck for what he has done.

Previous posters have listed the never ending list of injuries he has went through for the past 4 years. At a certain point, I guess he was just mentally exhausted. Some say he didn't love the game enough, but enduring 4 straight years of hell on your body shows he did love the game. The game literally beat him to a pulp. To the point he had to raise the white flag.

Keep in mind he could have strung this along, and collected millions more. And maybe even get a next contract which would have been almost guaranteed to be $35 million a year considering his talents. Hell, look at Sam Bradford and the money he stole.
