Well, I sure have had a week to be remembered. Last Thursday, my wife had to be rushed to the emergancy room. She WAS pregnant and about 1:30am she woke me up complaining of serious pain in her stomach and back and then she started to vomit. I took her to the emergancy room where they gave her some pain medication and started monitoring her and the baby. Things seemed fine and I dozed off in the chair in her room with my 2 1/2 year old son in my arms. I awoke about 5:30 am and looked over at her bed to find the nurse holding her hand as my wife was in a seizure. Needless to say I was freaked out and the doctors and other nurses rushed in. They were going to perform an emergancy c-section because they lost the baby's heartbeat. They found it as she was coming out of the seizure and didn't do the c-section. They stabilized her and moved her to a better hospital. Once there, they had come back with some results from the blood tests they took and told us she had developed Eclampsia, a serious condition that can occur in pregnant women.
Well, about 12:30pm she had asked me to get the nurse as she didn't feel good and was seeing spots. I stepped out to get the nurse and I heard her yell my name. I rushed back in the room to find her in another seizure. The nurses and doctors came running in and immediately ran her to surgery where they took our little guy out with an emergancy c-section to prevent any more harm to either one of them (it could have killed them both!) Well, after a long week, my wife was finally released, but my son will still be in the Intensive Care Nursery for at least 3 more weeks. We got set up with a room at the hospitals annex hotel so we can be close to our boy (we live 40 miles from the hospital).I have been stopping at home every day to try and do laundry and feed our pets. We have a doby and 3 cats. Well, I just finished a load of clothes and put them in the dryer and went downstairs. After a while I noticed the dryer was thumping a little loud, so I figured I had better check and see what was going on. I opened the door to find one of our cats had climbed in the dryer and I hadn't noticed.......needless to say the little thing didn't make it and left me quite a mess to clean to boot. I was in total shock and knew I had to call my wife, after I told her she burst into tears. As if she hadn't been through enough, I killed one of her kittens.
So here are two lessons for everyone:
When your wife says she doesn't feel good, you better well believe her.
And always check your dryer for pets before turning it on.

At least my son is doing quite real good now and my wife as well. So everybody, welcome my son, Anthony Joseph to the world and give a little fairwell to our cat, Abby.

Wow, that's a hell of a story. Very glad your wife and newborn are doing well. Don't hate me, but I had to laugh when you got to the part about the cat in the dryer.

After that kind of a week you need a few :beer::beer:

Oh, and congrats on the new addition to the family. :)

Glad to hear everything is working out in the end. Sorry about your cat. I once ran over my cat that I had for tens of years and I know that I felt like crap. Good luck. I hope everything continues to get better.

OMG, I can't even begin to think how bad I'd feel if I did that to my kitty :(

Good to hear your family is OK.

To OP:

I laughed briefly, and now feel so bad about it. I love my Cat like a family member and I would be 2X as devastated if I caused her death. But given your circumstances, I'm sure you were tired as hell and it was just a mistake.

Well Dude, it sucks to be you. But better luck to the next living creature you may bring home.

oh man, sorry to hear that. Sounds like a rough week to say the least. One of our ferrets was killed in the same way; she snuck into the dryer and it was turned on with her still inside it. That was not pleasant. :( Glad to hear your wife and son are okay though!!!
