I got 6 pages into it and am firmly moving forth with my plans to find something in the middle-atlantic states (aka: hurricane belt). No wonder why I haven't scored a career job up here in the last two years.

Synopsis: State gov't hasn't changed it's way of doing business in 100+ years, 4 billion dollar state defecit, anticipating 6b next year, virtually no economic reforms passed in the last 6 years, highest tax rate and cost of living in the north east, slowest job growth/fastest job decline in the US.

edit - hopefully the link is fixed

As an ex-NY'er, you have my utmost understanding and condolences.
You forgot to mention the two biggest reasons why you should run out of that State, screaming and clutching onto your wallet: Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer.

i like living in Texas.. because I'm afraid that the snow will try to eat my brain.

We also have no state income tax, and a balanced budget amendment to our state constitution;

Well, I hear the traffic there is horrendous, and you're likely blanketed in snow today, so I guess it ain't particularly greener, is it? ;)

Hahaha, we are almost snowed in. The plows haven't cleared the streets this morning and the drifts on the sidewalks are about 3 ft high. There are two cars parked in front of the house that are buried up tp their hoods in snow.

I'm leaving NYS as soon as I'm done with school. Bleh, I much prefer New England to here. And snow is awesome! Though I think only a true New Englander can hate and love it so truly.

Same here. I miss the sales taxes rate of NH and I hate Rochester's ever increasing sales tax. I think rochester is trying to one canada when it comes to taxes.

NYS ? Long Island / upstate Western NY is nothing like Binghamton, NY is nothing like Manhattan is nothing like Da Bronx.

Choose wisely, that's all.

Same here. I left in 1988. That was when so many people left NY (mainly Long Island) that NY lost 2 seats in Congress and Florida picked up the 2. That was when the Tax on an ordinary home went from $3,000 a year to $11,000. Can't imagine what folks are paying up there now.
