I disagree. I'm not even gonna reply to your V10/V12 comment. And I6's and H4's can have excellent sounding exhausts.

That's H6's and I4's. :p

No... I6's and H4's. I4's rarely have a good exhaust note, and H6's are extremely rare (I think only the Subaru Legacy Outback Limited sells with one at the moment).

This video of this H4 Subaru WRX with a Scoobysport exhaust is well worth the 1.3MB download IMO if you don't believe me. Great sounding engine IMO. Text

sorry, i don't think it sounds very good at all.

It doesn't sound any worse than a V8. People are trained to like certain exhaust notes. It's not even personal preference. It's what gives you impression of it being good.

I heard a Viper at WOT on the freeway a few months back and there was nothing whiney about it.

personally, the best sounding engine/exhaust combos came from the Ferrari 250 motors...

Absolutely glorious.

Viper GTS

Ferrari has V8s... The F355 and 360 Modena both had V8s. They just have less displacement and rev a hell of a lot higher than the American iron does.

Get that car some pamprin. ;)

If they were not exotic and they were all over the place you would be tired of the sound. It's just something people don't hear often so they are attracted to it because it's something different.

Uh, Porsche 911?

ZV

EDIT: And large I4's can sound pretty decent. The Porsche 924S/944/968 2.5 litre, 2.7 litre and 3.0 litre I4's sounded pretty good, but Porsche really worked hard on the exaust accoustics.

Well that muscle car rumble isnt exactly all over the place either... but honestly... i like it because it sounds quite reminiscent of this car... and i've always been an F1 car even before the 355. A high revving 4 banger or a rotary appeals to me as well. I may not be a fan of those big V8s... but i'm not one of those ricers who laugh at it... i actually respect things that shake the ground when it pulls up next to me. lol. :D

yah, to be honest I wish there was a way to get a good flowing muffler for my truck that is even more quiet then OE. I think stealth is really the coolest thing out there, it's much better then guys with loud vehicles that are slow thats for sure.

Is this the sound you are referring
to a blue 944s turbo being chased by some yellow turboed car :D
