Yes, and after we outfit our kids with guns we will outfit our pet monkeys, then we will design guns that can be used by dogs and cats and all sorts of animals. Eventually we will design guns that can operate by themselves and shoot people they don't like.

Yes, yes, I have heard that one before. He can use a knife/car/baseball bat/table cloth/dust ball... etc. to do the same stuff.

The point is that:
a) it's a little more difficult.
b) it makes you a lot easier to be identified (he was anyway, but that needn't be so)
c) guns don't serve any other purpose than killing/hurting (and training to kill/hurt)

Yeah, I know, I can never bridge the difference between people pro/con guns, but the bigotry just upsets me. You vent, I vent.

Edit: Before i hear that one: self defence falls under the category of killing/hurting.

Actually, your point is entirely moot anyway. Guns are here, and no matter what they aren't going to go away. By outlawing them, you only take them away from law abiding citizens. The criminals would still have them.

UK has outlawed (or nearly outlawed, I forget which) guns and yet their assault and homicide rate is on the uprise. Why is this?

Maybe because guns aren't the problem?

The terms Liberal and Conservative as used in a political sense have nearly opposite meaning in Europe as they do in the US.

As for saying 'guns are bad,' the question of how an inanimate object can be bad or good should be answered...preferably by your shrink as you evidently need one.

 
Guns do not kill. Show me one handgun that will shoot a person while not being in someone's hand (Just sitting idle) or boobytrapped to go off when someone enters a room. Not 1 will. So how can guns be the killer?? If guns wasn't around then that person might have just ran over the crowd.
