And there's a million pads sold...

ugh 'androids' will not be sold out. Ever. Do you know what the article is referring to when it states 'android'?

Fine I'll be more specific, in my area I'm not seeing any single Android device ever sold out. I understand many different companies are producing Android based handsets, even with all the different handsets available if it was that popular of a platform you'd think at least one of the handsets would sold out.

I don't think that relates to the total number sold as much as how much nicer it is to surf the web on an iPad versus a phone, that lends itself to more page views on a particular device.

I still think it's more related to the site. Doubt the results would be the same if we were looking at stats on espn.com or something else far less techy than techcrunch.

Not necessarily. I'd love an incredible but I'm locked into a contract right now. On the other hand I could just walk into a store and buy an ipad (assuming stock is present) with no strings attached... Other than being significantly poorer. 😛

I know one person with an Android device. I've met two total and one other guy who wants one. I think in NYC nearly everyone has an iPhone. I definitely know more people with iPads than Android phones.

You said you live in NYC and Apple products are trendy so more will have it. It's the same thing over here in LA. Go into a coffee shop and everyone shows off their Apple products. Also since you're an Apple fan you would hang around people who are fans of theirs also so hence you know more people that do.

I'm also around IT people all the time. They use geeky things, not just Apple products. Still have not seen many Android devices.

I actually know quite a few people with Android phones - and none of them are tech people. Most of the tech people I know have Blackberries, iPhones, or Windows Mobile.

I work out at a private powerlifting gym - not exactly a nerd haven. Its a small place with about 25-30 people that go there. Five of them have Android phones. And that's just a small subset of the people I interact with. Whereas I only know two people personally that have iPads.

Of course - anecdotal evidence is useless, so I don't know why we're even comparing it.

Apple may have been late to the copy/paste game on their iPhone, but their copy/paste implementation literally destroys the competition.

On my WinoMo phone, copy/paste is such a huge pain. I'd almost rather take a sledge hammer to my phone than use its clunky copy/paste.

iPod sells millions. "Apple is Doomed", iPhone sells millions, "Apple is Doomed", iPad sells millions, "Apple is Doomed"

You're missing out on awesome devices if you have brand loyalty. Doesn't matter if its an Apple, or an Android device.

i dont have much brand loyalty in me, but i have to ask... what is so hard about copy/ paste in winmo 6.1? i never use my stylus, text in portrait mode with the qwerty keyboard and have huge thumbs. i can select, hold and copy text, then go to another program and hold, paste without using a stylus or any real issue. even in opera 9 the "right click" has text selection on/ off choices, and are fairly easy to use and master quickly. what is so innovative about the copy/ paste on the iphone? i havent used one since it was added, so i really dont know how it works. does it read your mind and take out the physical steps or something?

Exactly, people aren't taking in the factor of how easy it is to surf as the determining factor.

Copy and Paste on the iPhone is not only different, but better than any mobile device out there. When you try to select text to copy, it brings up a magnifying glass right above your finger and you can move your cursor where you want. The precision is pixel perfect. You have to really use it to know how it works.

QTF, maybe we had to wait for years to get C&P, but when we finally did, we had (have) an implementation of it that's far superior to any other phone. It was definitely worth waiting for.

You're a towel.

Edit: great link, as two of the nav pics on the top were apple. One has three iphons, the other an iPad. 😛

No, towelie, you are, in fact, a towel.

a million sold just proves the stupidity of the average consumer

People said the same thing about the iPod, iPhone, and now the iPad.

With millions sold of each, people still fail to accept the success of these devices. Don't like it? Then don't buy the device. I'm sure Steve Jobs isn't gonna lose any sleep over it with billions in the bank.

LOL. The anti's are just as bad as the fans...

I remember the war between Apple & Microsoft, it was just as bad...

No, I think they're worse actually, that guy just said EVERYONE who bought one is stupid. It's umpossible for anyone intelligent to buy any Apple product - period! If I had $500 I'd buy one and I guess that makes me stupid simply because I want one.
