We received a corporate email today regarding new logos and it mentioned to request a CD, so I did. Too bad I hit "Reply To All". I have been getting rejections and out of offices for almost 30 minutes now.

It's going to be one of those days.

I am aware. The great thing is finding all those bogus addresses in there. I have gotten at least 75 rejections so far.

Nothing will be like it was ~ 3 months ago when blacberry service crashed for the night and the corporate server started sending out crossposted emails and email status reports. As if those weren't bad enough, the number of idiots hitting reply to all to complain to be followed up by idiot group e hitting reply to all to complain about the complainers and batting clean up were thoa hitting reply to all just to say hi.

Ugh that was 3 days of deleting a couple hundred messages every morning till it was fixed. Local IT must have been so swamped it took them a day before they got enough time to send a don't hit reply all you idiots email.

To which you sent the obligatory "Reply all" e-mail with "What's reply all?" I hope.

Also--why are these mass e-mails being sent with everyone in the "to" what happened to distrobution lists and bcc to prevent these things?

Want to have some fun? Turn on your auto-response message, then send an email to all those accounts you are receiving auto-responses from. Sit back and watch the hillarity ensue!

Oddly enough, it seems to be perfectly acceptable in our office to carry on entire, private conversations, sell your garage sale stuff, request music, etc on our office-wide list. Sure, it's only 350 people, everybody here MUST be interested in how the sale of your Antique (c. 1900) full length mirror in wrought iron stand for only $35 goes down, including setting up a pickup time.

REPLY-TO-ALL FTW!

Suggest to whoever sends the company wide email to put the address(es) in the bcc field. this way a reply to all doesnt blast everyone.

Note to all: If you received an email from someone requesting a CD, you have discovered iamwiz82's identity. :p

edit: Shouldn't your corporate emails to all employees use bcc?

That's about what I did.

And it was a BCC message. So that is oddball. We are still on Exchange 5.5, so everything is strange  :(

Yesterday someone sent a company-wide email with a request like "please email me your <information> so we can complete processing <some task>"

A flurry of people have been clicking "reply to all" with messages like
- "I can't find <information>"
- "I can't find <information> either"
- "me too"

There is one guy who works here ("Bob") who is just computer-literate enough to be able to hurt himself, and because of that he thinks he is cool. In actuality, he is a real douchebag. As a matter of fact, he is the standard I use to determine whether or not other people are genuine douchebags. For example, he has been sending out a "reply to all" message for each of the other "reply to all" messages with a message similar to this: "Thank you for your message, but I can't help you." I get the feeling that he thinks this is hilarious. Pretty soon we started having several copycats doing the exact same thing. Since my douchebag standard ("Bob") has dictated that this is a douchebag thing to do, I now have to suspect that all the copycats are also genuine douchebags. See how it works?

On the next one that comes around, hit reply to all and say "only douchebags hit reply to all"

We have a sales guy who works for our company that is a complete moron. He causes a huge amount of problems. He contradicts the engineers in front of the customers no less, then says that he's the only one that can get things fixed and accomplished.
Well yesterday he pulled a doosey. An email was sent out about preliminary plans for a new project. And he decides that the plans which the CEO, CIO, and several of the engineers have made are just all wrong and cannot be done that way. So he replies to the project manager shooting off his mouth in a fashion that only he can. However.. yes he used reply to all. And apparently failed to notice the address at the very end of the address list..... 'All Employees'.
