State of the US military reflects the state of US politics.

I certainly agree with you in the sense that if a line grunt has no faith or respect for their CIC and his chain of command, then any decisions by the CIC that directly affect said personnel in a very direct and existential way is going to be met with less than a full commitment that is needed to accomplish any missions passed down the chain.

I agree with the sentiment that ultimately it comes down to fighting to keep yourself, the guys next to you and the unit's ability to see the sunrise the following day and the ones thereafter, but having no faith or even disgust for the CIC and his agenda absolutely has an effect on unit morale, unit integrity and personal convictions.

No one wants to be cannon fodder just because Trump's Twitter battle got out of hand.

I wouldn't put much behind this episode. The Benfold wasn't under its own power at the time.

Yeah. This seems like it would not have been newsworthy had it not have been for the recent incidents this year. Tug boat lost power and since the Japanese love drifting, it drifted.

The Japanese tug boat lost propulsion and drifted into the USS Benfold during a towing exercise. The U.S. guided-missile destroyer sustained minimal damage, and there were no reported injuries on either vessel, according to a press release from the U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet.

I use a tow bar to pull a trailer because I got annoyed when using a rope, and every time I stopped the trailer would run into my car.

A U.S. warship collided with a Japanese commercial tug boat in Japan's Sagami Bay on Saturday, marking the fifth time this year that a ship in the U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet in the Pacific has been involved in a crash.

Not even close to being news worthy. The tug lost power in the bay and drifted into the US Navy ship.

Did it really? Or was this a dry run by ISIS? The only way to be sure is drone strikes on the houses of the tug boat crew.

you morons just cant help yourselves to have a circle jerk and blame trump with everything. did you two numskulls even read the article? To imply that sailors would purposely put their shipmates in danger due not having respect for the CiC is nothing but diarrhea talk.

Judging by the rest of your post I for one do not doubt your ability to talk authoritavely on the subject of circle jerks.

You could probably tour the country and give lectures on how to circle jerk. Then you could write one of those pop up books called "being a trump supporter and the art of the circle jerk."

Actually I have some questions. What's the usual ethnic makeup of a trump supporter circle jerk? Also,is it kind of awkward afterwards?

I have 25+ years of experience in the military to rely on when I wrote up that post. If you pondered a little on the second half of my post I'm pretty sure it takes into account the concerns you expressed, along with the fact that I never mentioned Trump by name.

Meaning, I spoke of CIC's in general.

If you would bear with me, I could talk for hours and endless hours about how CIC's put my life in danger while in service because of their personal/party agendas that had nothing to do with securing the nation from external threats and everything to do with greed and personal glory.

FWIW, it took me to retire out and look back at my experience in service to see things the way I do at present. While in service I can admit that I had a different perspective that for one reason or another didn't allow me the freedom of thought I have now. 😉

deflect and detour. your questions have nothing do do with the partisan hacks in here from blaming trump with this or implying accident was due the sailors not having faith in the CiC.
