So he might have one thing right (pro-life) but that doesn't negate all the other whacked-out stuff. It isn't all-or-nothing.
 
On one hand Harry Reid has been an extremely effective party boss, orchestrating the Dem takeover of the Senate. On the other hand he is so damn conservative he has blocked any good resulting from the Dem's control of the Senate.

Really? Because according to the OP and all his circle-jerking buddies in this thread, it is in fact all-or-nothing, and along party lines. And because you missed it, you should know that I was one the pointing out that it is NOT black-and-white.
 
I'm not sure I quite understand this particular conservative debating approach. You don't win a debate on an issue by conceding your opponent's point, then arguing that one person on your opponent's side shares that negative trait. It's like the suicide bombing approach to politics. Sure, your "enemy" might be wounded, but you don't exactly come through with flying colors either.

Obama speaks english instead of ebonics and he's "light skinned" because his mother is white.

This isn't any different from how Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton describe Obama.
In their case, they say Obama isn't "black" enough or one of us. In Reid's case he simply mentioned a fact.

Why should he have to apologize for something that's a fact?
But then again, I'm not an American(I am now but not originally) so it may be something I'm not understanding with the culture.

I wonder how out of context that quote was taken. It sounds like the kind of comment a reasonable person might make in response to Obama being described as "a ebonics speaking darkie" or something similarly enlightened. Now of course those kind of comments would NEVER have come up during the election, but since we don't know what prompted Reid to say what he said, we'll just have to guess...

Patranus is an idiot. All of his threads are like this though. Or his other favorite topic is to criticize Obama for not being big govt/'liberal' enough, as though that makes any sense coming from someone who claims to be a small govt conservative.

The commentary has been a bunch of Dems excusing Harry Reid for his racist statement.

Some have noted how a Republican would be tarred and feathered for this statement.

But Harry Reid gets a pass (for many reasons) by issueing an apology.

But, I am just summarizing, as you say.

A democrat rdered his coffee black. Zorkorist quickly posted that this proved the democrat was more racist than any Republican, and that all lberals are racial hypocrites.

Told that that's not a racial offense, he responded that all the Democrats are giving him a pass, where a Republian would be CRUCIFIED if he ordered his coffee black. THe responses just further prove hypocrisy.
 
I don't know what the mainstream liberal pundits are saying, but Reid isn't "getting away" with this on the progressive blogosphere.

I would think not. My guess would be that Reid is a pariah of sorts for selling out to members of his own party and compromising on this abomination called a health care bill.

Reid says he intends to run again this fall. He'll most likely be under tremendous pressure from his own party to bow out. Dog eat dog. Or, maybe Donkey eat Donkey would be more appropriate.

The Liberal/Democrats on this forum seem to be unable to answer a strong, unapologetic Conservative. They immediately go to name calling and recommending that the Conservative be put on ignore.

That's that way it is in the US Congress and Senate. Democrats are not willing to share the governing powers. Democrats don't govern, they RULE by spite.

Let that be a lesson to us who love Liberty. When we regain power, and we will, we must begin a merciless dismantling of the Liberal/Democrat machine.

The fallout from this will be relatively minor.

Why?

(1) Intent behind the words matters as much as the words themselves. When I hear some conservatives on the street talking about African Americans and Latinos, the contempt behind the words they speak is unmistakable. The stereotypes of "those people" are pretty terrible.

(2) Harry Reid was simply stating facts. President Obama doesn't speak with the accent commonly associated with some segments of the African American population. He's half white.

(3) Democrats have made these kinds of statements before. Initially there is some uproar by people who want to use the statements for political gain, and then everyone forgets:

Remember Joe Biden? "Articulate, bright and clean?" Yet Obama chose him for VP.
