This is fun....sorta makes me want to race too! :D

/me looks around...looks at Crazee.......then thinks bigger.....and runs over to BBR to mess around (for all of us!)! :Q

Do you think BBR would mind if I talked a little "FlorianRed" to them? Buwhahahahahahahaahahaha!

more...more...more! :Q

Hmm....it's 4:22pm est and I can't send any work units. I thought it was just the new system that I put together so I blew away the old installation and eventually the whole folder too. As a result I lost 12 completed units :( and I still can't get it to send. WTF. I just found out that this is the case with all of my machines. Is this a problem with their server or what?

Well, that's good to know. I just wish I hadn't blown away those perfectly good work units to find that out :( I thought it must have been this system since i just swapped every component in it without a reinstall of windows...seemed like a reasonable assumption...it wasn't. Oh well, from what I'm hearing of network man, it doesn't look like it's going to be close enough for 12 points to make any difference. Thanks for letting me know.

Engineer,
I think we are in a race with TA-Covert Ops real soon.
Just look at the huge #'s they deliver daily, and that in such a short period. :D

Hmmm....this race is going nowhere fast. The server is down and I can't upload anything. The stats also haven't been updated for the same reason. From reading the news section it looks like the last time they had a server outage they lost all of their stats since the last update. I hope that doesn't happen this time. I don't want to lose everything that I submitted since noon. This guy needs to buy a UPS or something. I'm just not going to submit stuff so it doesn't get lost until I know the server is up and then do it very close to an update time...that should work.

You call those huge numbers? bah - a mere trickle - just wait until the fresh load of shells and cheese come in ;):p then you'll see the flood:p

Shells and cheese? Are they fond of kraft dinner? I'm dense...oh yeah, very dense. On a side not I've now got...let's see...7798Mhz. At this rate I should hit the 1000 mark in about...I would guess less than two days.

If you're gonna hit 1k in 2 days, the race can be over now, 'cuz I'm not switching anything from other projects. ;)

I say race to 10,000! :Q

That gives plenty of time for additions + good ole boy trash talk! :p

Yeah, that's just a very rough guess. I really don't know. To get such a high number of Mhz I've had to do some pretty extreme overclocking on some of my rigs. Overclocking that's not stable for games because of the AGP bus speed but is just fine for ECCP. I intend to hit 8ghz if I can. We can make the target number larger if you want but that just gives me more time to put together yonder Duron.
Don't worry about the race. It's all in good fun. Nothing like a little competition for motivation, eh?
I doubt I'll be able to maintain my present speed. I'm going to want to do some gaming or audio work sometime which will result in a downclock and downtime for the app. Also, if the extreme overclocking on any of these systems causes a lock, I'll lose several hours...

BTW over 2.4ghz of that nearly 8ghz is P4 northwood and as you may know, a duron 600 will outpace that!*

WTF is up with P3s anyway? Two coppermine P3s (dual config with 768 PC133 I think) and each processor only sits at 50% usage. When giving the task top priority one processor goes to 100% and the other to 0%. WTF! On top of that it's only doing 450,000/sec with each processor at 50% usage. I doubt that this is a memory bandwidth thing since the duron 600 did as well with PC100. WTF? First, I don't understand why the P3@1ghz is barely better than a duron 600 and why it won't use both processors at 100%...anyone know how to fix this?

Win2k always considers multiple processors as ONE BIG processor with 100% total combined time. If you had 4 processors each maxed out, it would read 25% each x 4 = 100%...so it's very much OK! :)

My dual 1.4GHz TBird system running ECCp does the same :)

(So does my Dual 1800XP system on SETI)

:)

Really? I thought I've seen them both go over 50% at some time or another. Maybe not. Okay, so that would mean that is' actually using 100% of each processor and that the scale would represent 50% of the total CPU usage. Okay...so why is 2ghz of P3 coppermine only pulling down 450,000 while a durong 600 can do that?
Edit:Rhetorical question :)

Okay, I've spent the last few hours putting together some parts, so it'll help the TeAm - but I'm nowhere close to 7.8 GHz for just the ECCp project. :(

Sept. 5 00:45:11 - Server problems plagued both of us causing lost units. Upgrades, overclocking, and system building. Slow half day. Fun starts tomorrow.

Feds, what do we have to do to stay ahead of the TA-Covert Ops?
I'm already looking for more machines to assim, but almost everything in my neighborhood has some DC-client on it.
Will have to fire up that lonely 166MHz again, I guess. It is sitting below my desk, right now, doing nothing.

Time to get going again and fire up those transwarp conduits. :p

Damn! I lost two machines overnight to overclocking. Hard locked and stayed there. I should have enabled automatic reboot...argh. Well, I guess it goes to show that it's not worth the extra few Mhz for an extreme overclock if you're going to have 8 hours of downtime on two machines. From the newest stats, it looks like networkman has increased production by about 250% or more. Hmmm....Well, back to modest overclocks for me. I'm going to need the uptime.
