My parents are coming to visit for the weekend so I decided it would be a great time to do some work around the house. Here is a list of what I have planned so far:

[*]Move home entertainment center to finished basement. This will be come my new home theater.
[*]Remove carpet from living room and dining room
[*]Install new laminate flooring to living room and dining room
[*]Install new LCD TV in living room
[*]Rewire basement to create theater room

Hopefully, I can get it all done. I'll post pics once it is all completed.

On another note, has anyone installed the floating floors before? If so, how difficult is it to do? How long should I plan for ~400 square feet?

if working alone, plan on it taking the majority of the day...it's not really hard but it can consume time.

You want to do all that in a weekend? You better have a lot of help then or be very handy.

And floating floors aren't hard to install, but it does take some time to do it correctly. You sure as shit better make sure the subfloor is level too.

laminate flooring = yuck. My parents put that in when they built our house in 1990 and we got rid of all of it. We now have tile and hard wood flooring.

yes, very sure as shit.

I put one in and probably would not do it again because its a lot of work. The worst part is around the door jambs(sp?)

I predict you'll do 1/2 of your tasks. You'll setup your theatre in your basement and wire it up, then watch movies the rest of the time.
