And my saga with KDS continues....

apparently if i use fedex ground, since i'm only 30 miles from KDS headquarters its only $9 for me to send this thing back every time. Hmm, so i guess its not that bad, but its still a huge hassle, i think i'll ask them if i can pay them like $100 and upgrade to an avitron one.

i personally will never buy another KDS monitor again. they may not all be crap, but the one i had was pure crap. my 16 color monitor from my old Tandy 1000RL computer is still going strong, but the KDS blew up in less than a year???

The green electron gun went bad. i could live with that since it was just being used for 2 servers, but then i could not turn the monitor on without banging my fist against the case. then finally, it caught on fire, giving me a quick zap to the finger i used to turn the monitor on with! I didn't have the time or energy to find my receipt and send it back to them, so i chucked that POS monitor. never will buy from that company again, so I am just using the old 14" from my old Compaq PC that was bought in 1993!!!!!!

I'd rather pay $100 more for a reliable piece of hardware that I never have to return to the manufacturer, than save that amount, and have to send it back and forth to be repaired. just my opinion of course, buy all of the KDS stuff you can afford!

Computer Gaming World suggested the KDS AV-21TF for their Power Rig machine in their 1/2001 issue. Of course, that may not mean anything, but I just thought it was interesting to mention. 🙂

My KDS is still working okay.

the kds has great picture quality, its really really sharp, but they just break a lot. I dont understand, i mean if thye just made them better KDS would save so much money on shipping them back and forth.

KDS still wouldnt match Hitachi and Samsung in shadow mask monitors, first of all KDS dont make flat shadow masks, second their dot pitch is higher, and third problem is reliability. Im pretty damn sure KDS doesnt look as nice as a Hitachi or Samsung.

I'd only consider their FD Trinitron line, but Im being very cautious right now because numorous people have reported problems with their monitors.

Ok i call KDS again. They flagged my account so that i can upgrade to a kds av195tf for $140 in january when i have time to return my now only slightly damaged refurbished replacement vs19sn (the one that turns off), and they are paying for shipping both ways on my now 2nd broken monitor. So i guess hopefully i'll have a decent non broken monitor now. Woohoo!!!

Sounds good hans. At least KDS understands that monitors WILL go bad, unlike Sony.. who seems to think that all of their monitors can be "repaired". They tried to repair my monitor 3 times before finally replacing it. :Q

i guess, that though i've had 2 broken monitors now (one horrible broken, and one thats only a little broken the first 20 minutes when it seems to need to warm up) , i can say that they have really good customer service, and i'd consider buying from them again just because they handle service so well. Companies that back up their products kick ass.

I have to agree with KDS's service! I RMAed my monitor because there was a defective dot that never changed colors(white). Its really tiny and you hardly notice it, yet they were willing to pay for the shipping and replaced it with a brand new one! No hassles at all! I would certainly purchase a KDS product again, not because of their products, but more important service.
