They already failed. Even turning off the safe search feature you can't find squat as far as Aria Giovanni goes. Two palms down! :D

The beta image search is actually pretty solid

They aren't copying Google. If you think anybody having a simplified page dedicated to a search is copying Google, then Google copied AltaVista first.

dum dum dum .... really must do my product searches there now.

It's because google is overwhelmed with numerous googlebombs.

Google: Moderate SafeSearch is on

MSN: SafeSearch - Choose how you want to filter results.

Strict - Filter sexually explicit text and image results
Moderate - Filter sexually explicit images only
Off - Do not filter search results

Talk about BLATANT

Why would you need those filters?

Thats not the point...the point is they couldn't even change the fvcking capalization of the damn name of the filter!!

Why should they? "Safe" and "Search" are two separate words.

Talk about a pointless complaint...

i thought it was pretty valid, he's talking about how google's thing is SafeSearch and msn has the same thing and they called it SafeSearch too.

No, the logic breaks down when people start to believe Google invented the words Safe and Search and their adjoining because that's where they first saw it.

Newsflash... Google wasn't even close to being the first expansive web search engine on the internet. "OMGWTF 2 OF SAME WERDS THEY"rE SUCH COPYINGERS!!!"

They just don't have the firepower or intelligence of the folks at google.

microsoft R&D budged alone is more than what google is worth. Just wait till longhorn rolls out, google will have serious competition

microsoft has a huge huge R&D budget. I don't think any software company in the world can remotely even get close to it.

i maybe wrong.. but microsoft vs google in terms of financial power? pffft. microsoft >>>>> google

also, more competition mean better search engines.

i don't see a problem here.

Yahoo has also copied Google.

However, Yahoo has either an agreement with Google or an interest in them. I've read this before. Microsoft, on the other hand has the attitude of ... well, if you can't beat them or buy them out, then steal from them.
You would be wrong. Yahoo used to use Google to supplement search results until they bought every other search engine on the market. Yahoo has purchased Alta Vista, AllTheWeb, Overture and Inktomi. Yahoo has bought all of the major search players aside from Google.

Microsoft has to do something if they are going to stay in the search game. As to the minimalistic look, it was long ago determined that users like that thanks to Google, but search engines were minimalistic in the beginning until they decided to bloat themselves to become portal pages. Google only brought back the look, they didn't originate it. Alta Vista was minimalistic, then bloated to a portal page and then, after the success of Google and the public's obvious like for simplicity, went back to a minimalistic approach.

No, it's because Google changed their algorithm to give precedence to huge commercial sites. This is why everything you get from Google these days is some knock-off of Amazon or whatever.

I only used Google anymore for backup or for obscure searches as IMO Google sucks but still does update the most frequently. The frequent updating scenario is changing though to being close to equal.
