It's out of stock, whats your point. If you could sell out at 600 instead of 300, wouldnt you?

Thank god you don't own a computer store...

If water was in short supply, would you rape people on the price of that too ?

Because we all know that people die of lack of 3D, just like they do without H2O.

If the price were maybe $100 over retail, I'd be a bit upset. But paying double the MSRP crosses over into just plain funny. Love it or hate it, capitalism isn't a moral or ethical system. The buyer has to be as educated as the seller to make it work out to both their benefits.

You could argue that you'd trust a store owner you've been buying from for years not to steer you wrong, but ZZF is a frickin' internet store. And if you're on the internet already, it's so easy to find both the retail price and to compare prices from dozens of other internet stores.

Low stock. High Demand. High Price.

I'm sitting pretty though with AGP.

ZZF are a bunch of scury computer store pirates. They'll gully your wallet if you don't watch out. They fly the Jolly Roger and have horrible return policies! Arr!

(Note: This post is a LOT funnier if you imagine Tim Curry as Long John Silver saying it).

First of all, if you dont like the price, just dont buy it.

Second. . . atleast they dropped the price of the Sapphire x800xl by $50 to 449.99 (chuckles)

while i personally think the price is absurd, I also believe that if i were wealthy and $500 was pocket change, i would no doubt pick it up.

This isn't water, its more like a rare wine. The problem is, is that it isn't the best wine you can get for your money. Its NOT that big of a deal.

well x800XL competes with the 6800GT . . . with an MSRP of $100 less than the 6800GT

it IS worth the money, its just that its worth the money that it should be sold at

Im in a Econimics class and understand that fine. what your missing is noone is willing to buy that card or VERY few(people who dont know better) therefore at that price ranger their product is in very low demand. Therefore to make a profit they must lower their prices to be competitive

Actually, if they don't have much supply ATM, raising prices would be the only way to maximize profits. And nV doesn't have anything to compete with the X800XL at the $300 price point, so selling it at close to 6800GT prices seems to make more sense for resellers, at least until nV dips its price or demand slackens at $400MSRP.

Given the high prices at the high end and the apparent lack of supply, tho, prices tend to stay high for quite a while after initial availability (which increasingly tends to be quite a while after "launch").

Thats the Asus version. Asus' cards are always overpriced.

There is XL for $450 on ZZF, which is still over priced, but much less than the Asus version. I think its a Powercolor.

No you wouldn't. You would buy an X800XT for under 500.00. The rich didn't get rich by being foolish ya know. :)
