If big pharma does eventually develop an effective vaccine for COVID-19, and you think you can get one for free or a nominal fee, you're delusional.

Unless you live in Canada, Europe, Oceania, etc.

I bet it would be in the insurance companies' interest to cover vaccinations for this illness compared with sharing the costs for hospitalization. And certain other regulations can get these things covered under the preventative care measures provisions of the ACA.

For instance, because of a regulatory change which allowed preventative meds to be covered in part before the deductible, my out of pocket cost for a preventative med fell to 1/3 of what it was last year.

It's not perfect and there is substantial room for improvement, but we don't have to be completely nihilistic about it.

Meanwhile the orange shit stain just renewed his efforts to cancel health coverage for over 20,000,000 Americans.

I'm going to bet the list price will be definitely under $1k, probably under $500, and heavily or totally subsidized by insurance and local governments.

Trump and the nation's businesses have been hit hard by the virus and desperately want this pandemic off their backs as quickly as possible. So if it takes the gov't to step in and make the vaccine easily accessible/affordable so as to mitigate the disastrous economic effects that the virus has caused, I'm pretty sure they'd do it without hesitation.

The only problem I see is that the cost to the gov't will be steep unless there's some kind of public relations benefits that big pharma see as outweighing their desire to make big profits out of this golden opportunity that's been laid at their feet.

I read that. That is SO weird, why wouldn’t he wait till after the election? This is perhaps the biggest indicator that Trump sees defeat ahead.

OR a vaccine is created and “open sourced” outside of the US and you get to use that.
