My school had 1-2 projectors in every room in the newer buildings, with power outlets, ethernet jacks, and wireless for laptops.

Demand is up, meaning the schools raise tuition and install sh!t like this to get you to come to their school. That's why you pay $25,000.

Don't feel too bad, in one of the buildings on campus here, there's a pair of newly-installed, multi-thousand-dollar plasmas sitting on the wall doing nothing more than serving as a directory...and a static one at that.
$10k just to have a crisp and clear picture pointing the way to room 212.
yeah i have noticed a lot of schools doing this (mine included).
i think what is happening is school administrators are trying to be "in" with technology to make schools seem advanced, but its pretty annoying to me. a poster can do what these TVs are doing. maybe not in aphex's case, but most of the time its just a banner for a school, or a phone number, or something else just as stupid.

And what do the students care? Its daddy's money anyway.
(Sorry, I know everyone isn't like that...it just seemed like everyone but me when I was going to college.)

Wow, they did that with some plastic signs in the new building we have.
The hilarious part was, before the signs were made, they had printouts of the signs. The printouts included clear photocopies of the Braille.I suppose if you have really sensitive fingers, you could still feel the slightly raised areas of toner.
Oh, and a new $30M engineering and business building. It was just finished at the end of August this year. The roof is already leaking in several places, at least one area was roped off for repairs, a wall has plywood over it, windows throughout the building leak, and the concrete walkways are already cracking. Some skimming off the top perhaps?
Oh but it looks fancy - excessive use of glass everywhere. The damn railing supports are thick panes of glass. The heating bills are going to be insane for that place.

Just wait 5 years when those plasmas all need maintinence. Then you'll start paying $30,000/year

thats why i dont get why they do that (well use them as maps etc). a good map incased in glass or something will last 20+years and is far far cheaper.
