The driver was also a woman, so there was (presumably) less person there for the moose to hit.

I don't believe that. Looking at these pics, there is no way the guy/women got out of that without a bit more damage. Well I guess its possible, but she/he should start playing powerball then. Luck doesn't even begin to explain it.
