It seems pretty plain to me that he was saying that if Trump had opted to aim for unity, and was trying to reconcile with people that didn't support him, the media would be supportive of him.
Exactly. Thank you. But instead it seems like Trump is intentionally trying to split America apart. Screw unpresidential, this is just poor leadership.

Poor leadership is not what is losing him the Media. Again, Obama was not a poor leader and thus lost Fox news. American was split long before Trump. Pouring fuel on a fire does not mean the fire was not already out of control.

Should have, sure. Could have, never. Saying he could have won over the Media by being a leader is wrong. The positions are mutually exclusive.
Well, let's just wait and see how Trump's lack of leadership does for him when he needs to get his agenda through Congress.

No, Obama was a poor leader. He never once tried to speak to the Fox news crowd and the sense of disenfranchisement that gave them is a big reason we're in this mess.

Well Muricans have a notable history of burning their own young to death, so I guess its probably quite similar.

And as we've seen with America's election, throwing their young to the wayside in order to get back at those pesky societal advancements:

Interesting implications for the future of the US politically. I hope the uneducated white old guard is enjoying their dear fascist leader while they can.

Yep.

And I was even speaking literally, theres just as much history of that too.

the media doesn't twist his words. They repeat what he has said.

I think you are about to realize that he says some pretty ridiculous things.

No, they absolutely do twist his words and make a big deal out of nothing, and I had already admitted that he says some stupid things before the election when I was asked the following:

What are three things you love about Trump? What are three things that you despise about Trump? Just curious.

Three things I love:

1) He's not a career politician
2) He's not afraid to call it like he sees it
3) He can't be bought by special interest groups or people like Soros

Three things I despise:

1) He occasionally says stupid things (see 2 above)
2) He did some skits with WWE back in the day
3) His religious overtones
