Did people scream "polar bear down" in the other cases? What do you have to satisfy that the victims were chosen based on race? This case it's fairly easy.

Charging someone with a hate crime means that you need to prove certain things. Your proof is just the races of the victims and attackers. That's not very substantial.

How about that ball player in Oklahoma who was killed? One of the teens has tweeted racial slurs directed at whites. Funny, you dont see any federal charges there do you.

How about the couple that was attacked in New York, in which the group of minority attackers explicitly yelled racial slurs during the attack, and of which most were NOT charged with hate crimes? Explain to me how attacking someone of another race, shouting racial slurs and and yelling you are attacking them because of their race is not a hate crime?

I remember each of those cases on the local news here in SC... and there is no such thing as white privilege anymore. if you can't accomplish something its not because of your skin color.

I am jealous of white privilege, but I also recognize that I benefit from other privileges such as male privilege (as well as others), which has no doubt been hugely beneficial to me. I'm not 100% where I am because of my own hard work. Privileges have a huge part of it.

Standardized tests are often written within white privilege. The topics selected are often those that cater of white privilege. Think about being back in high school and taking the SATs - the subjects of the reading comprehension essays, the peoples' names in questions, the selected vocabulary terms, etc.

Again, there is a study out there by the U of Chicago that showed if there were 2 identical resume's except for the candidates names, where one candidate was named something like John Malarky and the other Tyrone Jackson, John would get 3x the call backs that Tyrone would. In essence, if it takes John 1 month to find a job, Tyrone is waiting 3 months before he finally lands that gig. You want to talk about unfairly getting jobs? The study shows that whites when it comes to searching for employments, for reasons that are difficult to regulate or socially correct, often don't even have to compete against all potential competitors.

This one is about how an idiot planned and executed a hate crime based solely on race and had the smarts to document the who thing so there would be no question as to the motivation... I think the issue is that Jim Crow laws were active up until about 1965. We're not really that far out from this period of time. There are still african american's alive who remember lynch mobs, segregation in every facet of society, discrimination in the justice system, and so these topics remain highly sensitive. If you really think about it, between 1863 and 1965, white society openly, blatantly used laws, the justice system, informal militias to intimidate black society. White society doesn't mean, just a few outliers and etc. No it means WHITE SOCIETY as in the majority of people either didn't care, were OK with it, or openly supported it. It wasn't until around the civil rights movement in the 50s and early 60s that things began to change. So I understand a bit the double standard. Again, not that far removed.

Is it right? Probably not, but if you look at the legal system at a whole, its already clear that most of the double standards favor whites. Same crime, black guy generally gets the harsher sentence. The one case, where its reversed, whites get up in arms and complain about fairness. I dunno... just seems a bit weird
