At first, they're likely to show up around the $400-500 price point, but as production ramps up, I think we'll see them in the $250-300 range in about a year.

I also suspect they're going to be "the" Christmas gift if they can get below the $500 price point.

Everyone with half a brain has WiFi at home, and they're gonna want a tablet. (Not necessarily the techies, but everyone else in the world).

If Google would develop/release a polished video/mp3 app, they'll get some serious market penetration with Android on tablets.

Having just traded in my 8-hour capable UL30A for an Envy 15 that barely gets 3 hours, I really want something like this.

As long as it can do quick web browsing, email, videos, and a few other minor frills, all while staying below the $450 (or so) price point and maintaining 5+ hours of battery life, I'll be getting one.

So basically people will pay a huge amount for it because it has Android on it? The screen's small & resolution sucks, and it looks like it could cost the same amount as an iPad, 32 gigs max without a MicroSD card? So basically to have a 64 gig one would be really expensive for what you get. While it does have a camera 1.3mp is beyond a joke. I don't see how this could sell for even $400 seems too high for a brand that doesn't have much recognition in the market.

Ummm...did you look at the rest of the specs?

It will have better specs and more features than an iPad for less money.

And yes...I will buy it just to anger the Apple fanbois.

Hush, I'm trying to blend in, Q....

But yeah, the camera is pretty sad, noticed that right away.

We'll see many more Android tablets, as I posted in another thread, it'll take about 20 or so to eclipse the numbers of iPads sold, but it will happen.

The company that makes the tablet is Compal, IIRC, they're not an unknown manufacturer, not a Foxconn or anything, but better than a knock off device by quite a bit.

It's going to be sweet as production ramps up on these devices and prices drop.

Google Navigation on a 7" screen would be pretty cool.

smaller screen makes it more portable, and the hdmi out allows you to connect to a massive screen and output 1080p if you want. that's how i see it anyway.

You mean better specs besides the much smaller screen and way lower resolution? The Camera shouldn't even get brought up as a plus because 1.6mp will be totally worthless. HDMI out is nice as is the MicroSD slot. But the specs are not better overall, and the resolution kills it for me. I mean you have cell phones with 1/2 the screen size which have equal resolution. If this had been the iPad people who are going to buy it would be laughing their asses off talking about how much it sucks and how it doesn't run a real OS. Crazy what a name does or doesn't do to a product. Not saying this product sucks but at $400-500 it's a fucking joke.

Really? So it will fit in my pocket? This is no more portable than a 10" device, it's not like the iPad weighs a hundred pounds. This is smaller but it's no more portable as it won't fit in your pocket and is only about .4lb lighter. And with that gigantic bezel at the top and bottom it's not much smaller than an iPad considering the screen's 3" smaller. It's also thicker.

The resolution is appropriate for the screen size

At least it gives you the option of using an SD card

It's also beyond not having a camera at all.

Great, then the brand would have to rely on superior products instead of fanboys to sell anything.

It looks intriguing. It's interesting that there's no mention of battery life. They mention the battery specs, but not how long that the battery will last. In my experience that's generally a bad sign.

I would think pricing will be key to it's success.

You can buy the Enzo Zenpad right now for $155 (starting price)
http://www.techspot.com/news/38319-enso-launches-155-android-tablet-zenpad.html

They have apparently had a very hard time keeping up with demand (but then, so has Apple) so order times are long (like over a month). But still, the Zenpad is like the little stepbrother version of the tablet in this thread. If the iPad is at $500, and cheap tablets like the Zenpad are around $150, then they'll need to price this thing in the $350-400 range - or less - to succeed.

As others have mentioned, I have a feeling that there will be a lot of Android tablets coming later this year though.

lol seriously??? Seriously???

Better specs in every way except the screen. FYI you don't need a high rez camera for video conferencing. Of course you're going to hate it cus GASP, it has better specs in almost every way than your lovely Apple device and can do more for cheaper. Why a camera right? Who likes being given something with their devices and not being made to pay extra for it. Video out? I like paying Apple tax on my accessories. So many choices and on this thing. I know it's scary to see something with so many choices cus you guys don't get that with Apple.

Better specs don't guarantee a better experience. We'll have to see how much they tweak Android for the form factor and see how it turns out.

PS - When dealing with a tablet, the screen is probably going to be the most important component.

Android doesn't give a better OS experience than the iPhone OS. Android isn't about the better experience, it's about more options and choices you get from it.

bolded part is opinion and conjecture, from your point of view.

everyone bitching about the camera may not have noticed, but the lens is forward facing in the pic, so generally id assume it was for video chat/ messaging. 1.3mp is plenty for that. the size of the screen isnt huge, but its not really small either. if done well, it could be very decent. the 1080p output is definitely a plus no matter which way you look at it. 100 under the iPad for a cost could make it a very viable alternative, regardless of the screen res.

You're not my pal, buddy. :ninja:

Seriously though, I was disappointed when Google priced the N1 so high :( Guess that's when I started falling out of love with them...
